Discussion on LinkedIn: Tax-deductible Childcare – Does What Women Want Make Economic Sense?

Many working parents are hoping to see tax deductibility for childcare pushed up the agenda for the October tax forum, which Treasurer Wayne Swan promises will continue “the big national conversation” about the fairness of Australia’s tax regime. The prohibitive cost of childcare affects not only low-income families but well-paid women in executive roles as well, and there’s clear evidence it’s keeping many out of the workforce.
