UNFED notes, June
Dr Patsie Polly and Mr Thuan Thai from the School of Medical Sciences gave us a presentation on how to demonstrate and assess student learning with E-Portfolios at program level. It is a joint project of Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Science. The purpose of the project is to help Science students to build professional skills and to develop career readiness. The design of the task is followed an approach of ‘collect –reflect – select - connect’. By completing self-reflection tasks, students are expected to take responsibilities of their own learning and make connections between their educational experiences, their personal and professional development, future career aspirations, aptitudes, and opportunities.
Patise and Thuan will present again on 28th August as part of Learning and Teaching connections series. Click here for more information and seminar registration.
Karsten gave us a report on the Mahara pilot project on behalf of Fiona. For semester 1 2012, the School of Education was the biggest user with 376 students this semester. For the coming semester, pilot participants are mainly from Arts, Science and Medicine. The project is recruiting pilot participants for semester 2.
