eReuse is a UNSW student start-up and not-for-profit organisation with the goal of supporting a sustainable e-waste management system. The program, funded by Arc, has recently launched as a pilot, and UNSW IT are proud to be able to support the initiative.
eReuse has a two main goals. The first is to reduce the amount of e-waste filling up landfills across Australia by breathing new life into “old but good” computer equipment. At the same time, eReuse hopes help bridge the digital divide by getting that computing equipment into the hands of disadvantaged families. Continue reading
The IdAM Foundation project has been busy completing a series of System Owner and General Awareness face to face communication briefing sessions during June and July to over 100 stakeholders across UNSW. These sessions were well received and summarised key changes resulting from the project as well provided stakeholders with information for them to assess and make necessary changes to manage impacts in their area. Office 365 is rolling out soon to all staff and students.
Soon you’ll be able to edit and collaborate on documents via the web, your smartphone, and download the full Office suite on up to 5 personal devices.
The Graduate Research Information System (GRIS) successfully went live on Friday, July 1. Around 80 staff attended GRS’s pre-Go Live demonstration sessions in Sydney last week and in Canberra the previous week, and as of yesterday, 119 users have logged in to GRIS, including sessions from as far afield as Germany, Slovenia, Serbia and Taiwan! So far 16 variation to candidature requests have been lodged by candidates and GRS have routed 19 admission applications to Schools for assessment. Continue reading
The Identity Management (IdAM) Foundation project had now commenced End to End regression (E2E) testing as well as detailed implementation planning. This will help define the system outage and cut over details which we can then share with you. Our planned go live date is between 24 September and 2 October (mid semester break), subject to successful testing. Continue reading
