Please also join us in welcoming Judy Hudson as the new Manager of Student Experience. Judy brings a wealth of experience to the position and a demonstrated commitment to enhancing student experience within the programs she has previously managed.

GDM/GCCM weekly newsletter

The weekly newsletter will be our main form of communication with you. It will contain important reminders and information pertaining to timetable updates, enrolment reminders, assessments and examinations, as well as ensuring you remain up-to-date with current happenings in the AGSM MBA Programs community. The newsletter will be sent to your student zMail account and it is your responsibility to ensure your forwarding email address is kept up-to-date so you do not miss out on receiving important information.

Final exam – how to apply for Special Consideration

Students who were unable to attend the final exam for Session 1, 2011 on Saturday 14^th May 2011 due to either unforeseen circumstances or misadventure are encouraged to contact the Student Experience office (see ‘useful contacts’ on the last page) and may be eligible to apply for Special Consideration.

Release of results

Your final results will be released via myUNSW by COB on Wednesday 15^th June, 2011.

Orientation for new students

A reminder that the New Student Session is occurring on Saturday 27^th May 2011 (invitations have already been sent out to all new students). If you have any queries or dietary requirements, please contact the Student Experience Team. We look forward to seeing you there.

Student Cards

All Intensive students who will be visiting the Kensington Campus for their two Intensive weekends will automatically have student cards organised. If you are not an Intensive student and would like a student card, please email Student Experience by Monday 23^rd May, 2011. Please note, our student cards do not include a photo, and are only used for UNSW library services.

Online Enrolment Period for Session 2, 2011 is closed

The Session 2 online enrolment period closed on Wednesday 27 April at 5pm. There are still a few spaces left in some of our classes, so if you are interested in enrolling, please contact the Student Experience office.

Course Materials

The automated process for delivering your course materials to your courier address began last Wednesday, 11^th May. If you have not received your course materials within a week, please contact the Student Experience office. Please note that all students should have received a copy of the TNT con note number by email for tracking purposes.

Session 2 Classes

Classes will begin the week starting the 30^th of May. GCCM & GDM Session Calendars are available on our website.

Important: as some dates may change occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances, we ask that you always refer to the most up-to-date version of the Session Calendar.

The names of the instructors will be added to the Class Timetable one week before the start of the session.

Fees for Session 2

Fees are due by June 5 for your Session 2 courses. The deadline to apply for FEE-HELP is June 19.

Final Examinations for Session 1, 2011 – this Saturday 14^th May

All GDM students based in NSW (CBD, Kensington, Parramatta, North Sydney, North Ryde) will be sitting their exams on the UNSW Kensington campus. NSW students enrolled in MPO and/or EMP should refer to this document for further details on their exam venue. Students enrolled in Intensive, Online, & GCCM classes: the feedback questionnaire will be available from eLearning as it is different to those you completed at the intensive workshops.

UNSW Library – Revised Easter Opening Hours

The building that houses the main UNSW Library requires essential electrical upgrades over the Easter break. During this time the Library will be partially closed: only Level 2 will be open and there will be no access to upper floors nor to the collection.

If you need to use books over Easter, please take them out before closing time on Thur 21 April.

New printing facility at the UNSW CBD Campus

It is our pleasure to introduce you to the new printing facility at the UNSW CBD Campus.

In order to cope with the increasing demand for photocopying and printing, IT at UNSW has installed a Lexmark colour printing and photocopying machine in the business centre at the CBD Campus. This is consistent with all other facilities across UNSW.

Users will need to swipe their UNSW student/staff ID cards* at the printer in order to access this new service. Our friendly staff at the UNSW CBD Campus will be more than happy to help should you require any assistance. For more information, please visit the Managed Print Service webpage.

*Students can add value by credit card at https://recharge.it.unsw.edu.au, UNSW staff can also use the OSA9 form to add value to their account from School or Faculty approved funds.

Corporate Finance Intensive Weekend 2

The CF Intensive Weekend 2 is scheduled this weekend at the AGSM Building, University of NSW, Kensington campus, Sydney.
Parking is available by ‘Pay & Display’ ticket machines between 7:30am-7:30pm Monday to Friday, on the top 2 levels of Botany Street car park. Parking is free after 7:30pm weekdays, and on weekends. Street parking may also be available.
Course fees include lunches and snacks while attending the workshops. Students are responsible for any other meals and associated travel or accommodation costs. Please click here for a list of local hotels.

ASB Student Advisory Committee

As active ASB AGSM MBA Program students, we would like to invite you to join the ASB Student Advisory Committee.
The Committee aims to facilitate formal and continuous student input into issues with program-wide or Faculty-wide implications. This will include discussions on ASB programs, program reviews, curricula development, strategies for improving the student experience, and policies pertaining to quality assurance around learning and teaching.
The first meeting of the Committee will be held in May, to be followed by 2–3 meetings in the rest of 2011.

Reminder: Responsible Management Education at AGSM MBA Programs – MBA Challenge video contest

AGSM MBA Programs at the Australian School of Business is a signatory school of the UN Principles of Responsible Management Education initiative.

Signatory schools commit to embedding ethical and socially responsible teaching into curricula, promoting these values to students, and engaging in research and partnerships to explore effective approaches to meeting the challenges of global social responsibility and sustainability.

In relation to this, we would like to draw your attention to a competition being run by the Global Business School Network (GBSN). GBSN is offering current MBA students and recent graduates the opportunity to showcase the work that they are doing to make the world a better place. The competition encourages current and former students to submit a video highlighting their student projects, start-up enterprises, and new careers which are making a difference to the developing world, and how their MBA experience helped them to accomplish this.

The winner will present her/his innovative work to the participants of the 6th annual GBSN Conference co-hosted by IPADE Business School in Mexico City on June 21, 2011: Generating Leadership: developing human capacity in emerging markets.

At AGSM MBA Programs we are aware that many of our current students and alumni are using their MBA experience to effect positive change across the globe, and we encourage all those who fit the criteria to apply for the MBA Challenge video contest.

Entries must be submitted by 11:45pm EST (US) on April 1, 2011

Mid-Session exams

If you missed your mid-session exam on Saturday due to illness or misadventure, please make sure you review our Special Consideration policy and submit the appropriate form and relevant supporting documentation to Student Experience before 5pm Wednesday, 23 March. Strategic Management Year Applications – July Intake

Corporate Finance & Economics in Management Practice Mid-Session Examinations – Saturday 19 March

The mid-Session Exam timetables can be viewed on the Timetables & key dates page of the AGSM MBA website, under ‘Exam timetables and notices’.

The Exam notices are also available on this page. Please make sure you read each carefully.

Please note that the majority of exams conducted within AGSM MBA Programs are handwritten. As very few of you would spend any significant time handwriting anything anymore we strongly suggest that you start practicing now. Exams will vary in time between 90 minutes and 3 hours.

Important: Mid-session exams SYDNEY VENUE CHANGE

Please note that the usual exam venue for GDM exams (the Wentworth Building – University of Sydney) is no longer available and as such, we have had to move the EMP and CF midsession exams to the The John Niland Scientia Building at UNSW (also known as The Scientia) here on the Kensington Campus.

Corporate Finance & Economics in Management Practice Mid-Session Examinations – Saturday 19 March

The Exam notices are also available on this page. Please make sure you read each carefully.

Please note that the majority of exams conducted within AGSM MBA Programs are handwritten. As very few of you would spend any significant time handwriting anything anymore we strongly suggest that you start practicing now. Exams will vary in time between 90 minutes and 3 hours so the more you practice the more prepared you will be for the writing challenges.

We encourage you to visit our website on a regular basis in order to obtain the most up-to-date information.

International exchange:

Did you know that GDM students are able to go on Exchange with one of our 27 International Exchange Partners? The International Exchange Program provides students with an opportunity to undertake one session of study with an AGSM MBA Programs partner institution.

Any GDM student who has completed all of the core courses and no elective courses, and has a WAM of 65% or above, is eligible to apply.

An International Exchange Program information session will be held at the Kensington campus Thursday March 10th 12:30pm to 2:00pm

Reminder: Responsible Management Education at AGSM MBA Programs – MBA Challenge video contest

AGSM MBA Programs at the Australian School of Business is a signatory school of the UN Principles of Responsible Management Education initiative.
Signatory schools commit to embedding ethical and socially responsible teaching into curricula, promoting these values to students, and engaging in research and partnerships to explore effective approaches to meeting the challenges of global social responsibility and sustainability.

In relation to this, we would like to draw your attention to a competition being run by the Global Business School Network (GBSN). GBSN is offering current MBA students and recent graduates the opportunity to showcase the work that they are doing to make the world a better place.

The competition encourages current and former students to submit a video highlighting their student projects, start-up enterprises, and new careers which are making a difference to the developing world, and how their MBA experience helped them to accomplish this.

The winner will present her/his innovative work to the participants of the 6th annual GBSN Conference co-hosted by IPADE Business School in Mexico City on June 21, 2011: Generating Leadership: developing human capacity in emerging markets.

At AGSM MBA Programs we are aware that many of our current students and alumni are using their MBA experience to effect positive change across the globe, and we encourage all those who fit the criteria to apply for the MBA Challenge video contest.
Entries must be submitted by 11:45pm EST (US) on April 1, 2011

Melbourne Networking Drinks being held quarterly at The Trust, 405 Flinders Lane, Melbourne. Join alumni and students on 10th Mar for the first networking drinks evening for 2011.
