\nAssistant Professor in ARTS, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY<\/span>
\nEMORY UNIVERSITY, ATLANTA, GA.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assistant Professor (tenure-track), beginning Fall 2012. MFA or PhD required.<\/span>
\nRequirements: teaching four courses per year and active in research and service.<\/span><\/p>\n

Successful applicants will have a tenure home in a single humanities<\/span>
\nor arts department,<\/span>
\nbut it is expected that their research and teaching interests will be broadly<\/span>
\ninterdisciplinary (perhaps bridging different schools within the<\/span>
\nUniversity). This position<\/span>
\nis open to scholars and creative artists across the humanities and<\/span>
\narts, including cultural<\/span>
\nstudies and linguistics, art history, creative writing, dance, film<\/span>
\nand media studies, music,<\/span>
\ntheater and visual arts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The successful candidate will engage in innovative explorations of<\/span>
\ninterfaces among the<\/span>
\narts, science, and technology. Possible areas of focus for this<\/span>
\nposition might include (but<\/span>
\nare not limited to): architecture and design, digital arts (animation,<\/span>
\nmusic, dance, media<\/span>
\nimagery, theater and visual arts); the global dynamics of new media;<\/span>
\nsocial media, online<\/span>
\ncultures and identities; perception, cognition, and neuroscience of<\/span>
\nart; computational<\/span>
\nanalysis and computational theory of art; and historical and<\/span>
\ntheoretical perspectives on<\/span>
\nsciences\/arts relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n

This position is one of several new faculty appointments in the<\/span>
\nhumanities made possible<\/span>
\nby support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. These interdisciplinary<\/span>
\nappointments seek to advance humanistic inquiry by applying its<\/span>
\ntraditional principles to<\/span>
\nnew fields of study and by examining traditional areas of research and<\/span>
\nteaching by means<\/span>
\nof new approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Review of applications begins November 1, 2011; finalists will visit<\/span>
\ncampus beginning in<\/span>
\nlate January, 2012. Applications received by December 9, 2011 will be given full<\/span>
\nconsideration. Applications should include a cover letter, c.v., a<\/span>
\nwriting sample\/portfolio,<\/span>
\na teaching portfolio, and three confidential letters of reference.<\/span><\/p>\n
