MFA or PhD required.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">Requirements: teaching four courses per year and active in research and service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Successful applicants will have a tenure home in a single humanities<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">or arts department,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">but it is expected that their research and teaching interests will be broadly<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">interdisciplinary (perhaps bridging different schools within the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">University). This position<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">is open to scholars and creative artists across the humanities and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">arts, including cultural<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">studies and linguistics, art history, creative writing, dance, film<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">and media studies, music,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">theater and visual arts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">The successful candidate will engage in innovative explorations of<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">interfaces among the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">arts, science, and technology. Possible areas of focus for this<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">position might include (but<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">are not limited to): architecture and design, digital arts (animation,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">music, dance, media<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">imagery, theater and visual arts); the global dynamics of new media;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">social media, online<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">cultures and identities; perception, cognition, and neuroscience of<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">art; computational<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">analysis and computational theory of art; and historical and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">theoretical perspectives on<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">sciences\/arts relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">This position is one of several new faculty appointments in the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">humanities made possible<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">by support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. These interdisciplinary<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">appointments seek to advance humanistic inquiry by applying its<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">traditional principles to<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">new fields of study and by examining traditional areas of research and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">teaching by means<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">of new approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Review of applications begins November 1, 2011; finalists will visit<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">campus beginning in<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">late January, 2012. Applications received by December 9, 2011 will be given full<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">consideration.
