In cooperation with seven artistic & cultural institutions throughout Europe (Center for the promotion of science, RS \u2013 DIG Gallery, SK \u2013 Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation, ES \u2013 Kapelica Gallery \/ Kersnikova, SI \u2013 GV Art, UK \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

Laboral, ES \u2013 Science Gallery, IE) as well as the ESO \u2013 European Southern Observatory, Ars Electronica has launched the European Digital Art and Science Network, an international initiative offering artists the chance to spend<\/span><\/p>\n

several weeks at both the ESO and the Ars Electronica Futurelab.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

This new network is debuting with a competition aimed at artists all over the world. Beginning immediately, aspirants can submit a short video elaborating on a project idea they would like to develop and implement in the context of stays at the ESO and the Ars Electronica Futurelab. An international jury will convene February 23-25 to select two artists to participate in the Residency program. Mentors will accompany and support the two winners at both the ESO and the Ars Electronica Futurelab.<\/span><\/p>\n

Presentation at the Ars Electronica Festival and at All Network Partners<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n

The results of the residencies will premiere at the Ars Electronica Festival September 3-7, 2015 in Linz. Then, travelling exhibitions will make the rounds of all partner institutions: Center for the Promotion of Science (Serbia), DIG Gallery (Slovakia), Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation and LABoral (both Spain), Kapelica Gallery (Slovenia), GV Art (England) and the Science Gallery (Ireland).<\/span><\/p>\n

Residencies at the Nexus of Art and Science<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n

The European Digital Art & Science Network aims to link up scientific aspects and ideas with approaches used in digital art. Fostering interdisciplinary work and intercultural exchange as well as gaining access to new target audiences are among its declared goals. There is also strong emphasis on art\u2019s role as a catalyst in processes of social renewal. By creating images and narratives dealing with the potential risks and rewards inherent in technological and scientific development, artists exert an important influence on how our society comes to terms with these innovations.<\/span> Additional info and details about how to apply are online at<\/span> http:\/\/www.aec.at\/artandscience<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
