20,000 euros await the winners of the STARTS Prize 2016. Appointed by<\/span><\/p>\n the European Commission, Ars Electronica is launching an international<\/span><\/p>\n prize to select the most pioneering collaborations and results in the<\/span><\/p>\n field of creativity and innovation at the crossings of science and<\/span><\/p>\n technology with the arts.<\/span><\/p>\n \n \n Entries Are Now Being Accepted<\/span><\/p>\n \n This is an open call for entries in conjunction with an initiative<\/span><\/p>\n launched by the European Commission: STARTS. The name stands for<\/span><\/p>\n innovation at the nexus of Science, Technology and the ARTS.<\/span><\/p>\n \n Two prizes – \u20ac20,000 each – will be bestowed this year:<\/span><\/p>\n \n One for artistic exploration and projects in which the artistic<\/span><\/p>\n approach has significant potential to influence or change the way<\/span><\/p>\n technology is deployed, developed or perceived, and<\/span><\/p>\n One for innovative cooperative ventures teaming up industry\/technology<\/span><\/p>\n and art (and cultural & creative sectors in general) in ways that open<\/span><\/p>\n up new paths for innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n \n \n This competition specifically seeks:<\/span><\/p>\n \n Trailblazing forms of collaboration and projects essentially<\/span><\/p>\n characterized by both technology and art; strictly artistically or<\/span><\/p>\n strictly technologically oriented projects are not what STARTS is<\/span><\/p>\n looking for.<\/span><\/p>\n Any and all artistic works and practices having to do with innovation<\/span><\/p>\n in the areas of technology, business and\/or society. This competition<\/span><\/p>\n is not limited to a particular genre such as media art and digital<\/span><\/p>\n art.<\/span><\/p>\n All forms of technological and scientific research that are inspired<\/span><\/p>\n by art or in which artists are integrated as catalysts of new ways of<\/span><\/p>\n seeing things. This includes but is not limited to information &<\/span><\/p>\n communications technology.<\/span><\/p>\n Artists or artists\u2019 collectives, creative professionals, researchers<\/span><\/p>\n and companies throughout the world.
