In regards to the random data generator, I chose to film short snippets of my journey back home from uni and some videos of my daily life. With those videos, I screenshotted some of my dearest moments and some aesthetically pleasing moments.

With the process of finding a random word, I personally chose to film a short snippet of my daily life in the process as it gives a personal connection to the random word. Additionally, with my background knowledge of programming and codes, i wanted to incorporate the ASCII code table with the screenshotted numbers from the video.

Process/steps of finding a random word

  1. Identify/capture the time of the screenshotted moment and markdown the numbers of the screenshotted moment in the video
  2. With those numbers match it with the ASCII code characters and list those letters/character
  3. Using the unscrambled word generator, type in those letters and find a random word or thing (https://word.tips/)

Step 1: Capture the time of the screenshotted moment

0:30, 10:04, 1:12, 0:29, 1:00, 0:03

Step 2: Match the numbers with the ASCII code character

With the screenshot numbers, i converted it to digit numbers and matched it with the characters on the ASCII table:

30 = RS, 104 = h, 112 = p, 29 = GS, 100 = D, 3 = ETX

FINAL LETTERS = RSHPGSDETX

[ASCII CODE]

ASCII code is an acronym for the American Standard Code for Information Interchange and it is a code for representing 128 English characters as numbers, with each letter assigned a number from 0 to 127

Step 3: Unscrambled word generator

With the final letters from the ASCII code table, I used those letters and entered it in the word finder generator on  (https://word.tips/)

The first word that the generator listed was depths and that is my random word.

DEPTHS

distance? the dimension of an object? a quality of being deep?
