The School of Optometry are interested in exploring the use of computer games for vision training to help treat Amblyopia (lazy eye) in young children. I have taken on the task of implementing some simple eye exercises as interactive games, and I’m using it as an opportunity to learn Unity.
The first game they requested was a simple line-following game. There is a line on the screen and you have to follow it with your mouse (or, ultimately, with a stylus on a touchscreen). Implementing in Unity, it seemed to me that the line looked rather like a bendy-straw, so I decided the game would be about drinking a milkshake through a long curly straw. The first prototype is below (Unity web player required).
Obviously it still needs work, but any feedback is welcome.
