The course is open to all UNSW undergraduate students. This is a 6UOC course that can be substituted for a course in a Spanish language major. \u2028\u2028<\/p>\n<p>Oaxaca is a small city of 250-300,000 people and the capital of the State of Oaxaca. It is 440kms to the south-west of Mexico City, is set at 5,000ft above sea level and is one of Mexico\u2019s most beautiful cities. \u2028\u2028<\/p>\n<p>The course is run through the Instituto Cultural de Oaxaca &#8211; a private language centre that offers intensive Spanish language and culture courses for foreign students. The ICO has organised a diverse cultural program for UNSW students.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #1569c7\">Course Fee<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThe fee is $2,300 per student. This covers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Four weeks of intensive Spanish language classes<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Intercambio\u2019 discussions \u2013 language conversation swaps with Mexican students<\/li>\n<li>Activity workshops, such as salsa and merengue dancing, regional cooking, and ceramics<\/li>\n<li>Weekly seminars on a variety of cultural themes, such as Pre-hispanic culture, politics in M\u00e9xico, Oaxacan artists, traditional costumes and customs<\/li>\n<li>Weekend in La Never\u00eda, a small village in the Sierra Norte, to undertake community assistance project<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation and food &#8211; housing with families, including half board<\/li>\n<li>UNSW Travel insurance (covered by UNSW for its students on study tours) \u2028\u2028<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students must organise their own airfares, and it is recommended to book these as early as possible. \u2028<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #1569c7\">How to Apply<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nTo apply, download and fill in the application form found at\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studyabroad.edu.au\/downloads\/downloads\/Oaxaca%202011%20application%20form.pdf\">http:\/\/www.studyabroad.edu.au\/downloads\/downloads\/Oaxaca%202011%20application%20form.pdf<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are due on the <strong>15th October, 2010<\/strong>.
