This is a short program that combines in-class lectures with academic activities such as group work sessions, presentation, field trips and Laboratory\/ facility tours. <strong>The program is taught in English.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The theme of TSSP in 2013 will be \u201cAdvanced Science and Technology at Tohoku University\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The followings will be covered for this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to Spintronics<\/li>\n<li>Electric vehicle and its electric motors<\/li>\n<li>Computer Vision in Robotics<\/li>\n<li>Robotics<\/li>\n<li>Welcome to Carbon Nanotube World<\/li>\n<li>Neutrinos<\/li>\n<li>Genetic Engineering and its Application in Plant Fields<\/li>\n<li>Modern Physical Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>The 2011 Tohoku earthquake\u00a0 &#8211; Why did we fail to anticipate the M9 earthquake? \u2013 (Geological Environment and Earthquake Disaster)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(*Topics are subject to change.)<\/p>\n<p>The program will run from <strong>July 4th to July 12th, 2013 and it is being offered tuition free to the selected\u00a0UNSW students!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Accommodation at a hotel costs JPY 40,000 for the entire stay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarships:<\/strong> JPY 80,000 scholarship from Japan Student Service Organization (JASSO) will be granted to all students who successfully complete the program.<\/p>\n<p>For more detailed information on the program please view the following files:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.unsw.edu.au\/globaled\/files\/2013\/03\/TSSP2013-Poster.pdf\">Tohoku Poster<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.unsw.edu.au\/globaled\/files\/2013\/03\/TSSP2013-Lecture-titles.pdf\">Tohoku Lecture Titles<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.unsw.edu.au\/globaled\/files\/2013\/03\/TSSP2013-Daily-Scheduletentative.pdf\">Daily Schedule (tentative)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The deadline to apply is April 10<sup>th<\/sup> 2013.
