The theme of TSSP is \u201cAdvanced Science and Technology at Tohoku University\u201d, and the following subjects will be covered this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbThe 2011 Tohoku Earthquake -Geological Environment and Earthquakes-<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbSpintronics<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbComputer Vision in Robotics<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbRobotics<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbCarbon Nanotube<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbNeutrinos<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbModern Physical Chemistry \u00a0and more<\/p>\n<p>(*The topics are subject to change.)<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the lecture series, the program offers other academic activities such as group work sessions, presentations, field trips, Japanese language\/ culture lectures.<\/p>\n<p>The Program fee is JPY 20,000, and accommodation at a hotel costs JPY54,600-65,000 for 13 nights (JPY4,200-5,000 per night) depending on the number of participants.<\/p>\n<p>A JPY 80,000 scholarship from the Japan Student Service Organization (JASSO) may be awarded to those who have good academic records at their home university and successfully complete the program.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.unsw.edu.au\/globaled\/files\/2014\/03\/TSSP2014-Application-Guideline.pdf\">Please click here to view the application guidelines<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.unsw.edu.au\/globaled\/files\/2014\/03\/TSSP2014-Tentative-Schedule.pdf\">Please click here to view the schedule (TBC)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application and Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two UNSW students will be selected for this program. In order to apply you must email <a href=\"mailto:advisor4globaled@unsw.edu.au\">advisor4globaled@unsw.edu.au<\/a> for the application. Applications must be submitted before <strong>Wednesday April 23<sup>rd<\/sup> 2014. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Past Students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four UNSW students completed this program last year and had an AMAZING time! One of last year\u2019s students said \u201cSome of the introductory courses didn\u2019t seem overly relevant to our degrees. Of course, we were wrong! Science and Engineering disciplines are all related to each other, even if they do not seem to be. It was really eye opening, realizing how the different disciplines overlap. I\u2019d highly recommend this!
