CALL FOR PAPERS:<\/p>\n
This workshop seeks to explore innovative perspectives on digital<\/p>\n
culture and the study of digital culture. Our concern is to focus on<\/p>\n
developing forms of theorizing, critiquing, understanding and<\/p>\n
researching digital culture, forms and practice. Our intention is to<\/p>\n
contribute to emerging work responding (1) to \u2018new\u2019 new media<\/p>\n
technologies of all kinds, and (2) to respond to developments in media<\/p>\n
research on technology and innovation.<\/p>\n
We invite contributions of all kinds, but suggest proposals for papers<\/p>\n
may fall into three main areas. Each relates to theories, practices<\/p>\n
and methodologies of innovation. They are:<\/p>\n
1) Digital Media and the senses. This may include work on or related<\/p>\n
to enhanced reality, locative media and virtual worlds.<\/p>\n
2) Creative practices and participation in new media. Here we are<\/p>\n
particularly concerned with discussing concepts of participation,<\/p>\n
co-creativity, co-design or co-innovation in creative processes<\/p>\n
involving audiences and independent creators in a wide spectrum of<\/p>\n
activities including art, photography, video, videogames.<\/p>\n
3) Digital research and education in digital culture.This would seek<\/p>\n
to explore innovative theoretical and methodological approaches in<\/p>\n
digital media studies as well as innovative teaching tools.<\/p>\n
The workshop develops concepts and ideas developed at the previous<\/p>\n
Digital stream workshop \u2018Revisiting Digital Theories\u2019 \u2013 our goal in<\/p>\n
exploring innovative forms of media culture is to do so within<\/p>\n
frameworks that are capable of thinking through technological and<\/p>\n
critical innovation whilst also recognizing the connection of both<\/p>\n
with earlier forms.<\/p>\n
Please submit an extended abstract (500 words max.) by the 6th of June<\/p>\n
2011 (and clearly stating which topic section you would like to submit<\/p>\n

Notification of acceptance will be by the 7th of July<\/p>\n
It is planned to publish in a journal some of the best papers of the<\/p>\n
workshop<\/p>\n
