Whether it\u2019s your first time at uni or you\u2019re a seasoned campaigner, O-Week can be overwhelming! On a campus as big as UNSW it\u2019s easy to feel like you may be missing some of the action, but we\u2019ve got you covered. Check out our list below for our top suggestions for making the most of your O-Week experience.<\/p>\n

Look for the bright yellow shirts if you ever need any sort of help during O-Week.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Join the club<\/strong><\/p>\n

With over 300 clubs that to suit a range of interests there are plenty to choose from. Wander down the main walkway, have a look at the stalls and chat to club reps about the kind of things they get up to. If you\u2019re the planning type, you can come prepared by checking out all the exciting clubs on the Arc website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Become a tourist<\/strong><\/p>\n

We get it, UNSW is huge \u2013 it has its own postcode! If you\u2019re worrying about how you\u2019ll find your way around, why not let some of our students show you the way? From short cuts between classes to the hidden gems on campus, these guys have got it all worked out. Whether you\u2019re looking for a comprehensive campus tour<\/a>, a short tour of the buildings you\u2019ll have classes in<\/a>, specific tours for undergraduates<\/a> and postgraduates<\/a>, or one where you can bring your parents<\/a>, our friendly guides are here to help you out.<\/p>\n

Every stall is full of valuable information… and potential free stuff!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Get your hands on some freebies<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who loves free stuff? Trick question, the answer is everyone. All you need to do is walk through O-Week and you will accumulate more free stuff that you can imagine. From fairy floss to free lunches (yes, there is such a thing) and so many pens that you won\u2019t be caught short in a lecture all year.<\/p>\n

Sign up, glow up<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking of free stuff, don\u2019t forget to sign up for your free Arc membership<\/a>. Look out for Arc membership tents around campus where you can activate and grab a membership pack. Becoming an Arc member unlocks heaps of benefits around campus, including discounts, (more) freebies, social events and more. Your transformation to uni student won\u2019t be complete until you sign up!<\/p>\n

We’re all ready to help welcome you to UNSW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Get carded<\/strong><\/p>\n

Picking up your Student Identification Card is that moment when you feel like an official UNSW student. Head to the Roundhouse (just off the main walkway near the Anzac Parade entrance) to get yours. And yes, you will probably end up looking terrible in your picture, but it\u2019s a rite of passage and comparing bad ID photos is a great way to make new friends! While you\u2019re getting your admin sorted, stop by the UNSW Bookshop or the UNSW Secondhand Bookshop to get your textbooks organised for Week 1.<\/p>\n

Move your feet<\/strong><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t need to have been the Reggie Mantle of your high school to get active at UNSW. From social sport<\/a>, to dance classes<\/a>, to uni nationals<\/a>, to the gym<\/a> \u2013 we\u2019ve got you covered with the best ways to keep moving and make new friends. Feeling nervous? Chat to the friendly Arc Sport staff during O-Week and they\u2019ll help you find the right activity for you.<\/p>\n

Party like it\u2019s 1999<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sure, you probably weren\u2019t born back then, but you can imagine it. Since there\u2019s no new millennium to count down to, why not celebrate your new student life instead? The year kicks off with the massive O-Week Party<\/a> (18+) at the place to be on campus \u2013 the UNSW Roundhouse<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Feel the Way (The Jungle Giants) Do<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Roundhouse is the gift that keeps on giving, bringing Brisbane natives The Jungle Giants to campus for a huge gig on Wednesday 13 February<\/a>. Get in quick, because this is sure to be one of the hottest tickets in O-Week.<\/p>\n

Find your inner extrovert<\/strong><\/p>\n

Putting yourself out there in a brand new place can be tough, but O-Week makes it easy with a whole range of fun activities that will get you meeting a whole bunch of new people. Take a deep breath and get in on the action \u2013 trust us, it will be worth it. Some of the fun we\u2019ve got planned includes a Comedy Night<\/a>, Dodgeball<\/a>, Speed Friending<\/a>, a water fight<\/a> and so much more<\/a>.<\/p>\n
