As a parent, you play an important and trusted role in supporting your child to choose the right study path.<\/p>\n
We encourage students to follow their passions and combine them with their interests and strengths.\u00a0With so many degree options available to students, a double degree\u00a0provides the flexibility to pursue varying learning <\/span>streams simultaneously, and this doesn’t mean double the time or workload. With a\u00a0<\/span>UNSW double\u00a0degree students don\u2019t have to lock in their major immediately,\u00a0it’s only after\u00a0twelve months of learning that\u00a0that this decision is made, giving students the time to clearly define their study goals before making a\u00a0commitment.<\/span><\/p>\n Double degrees give students greater choice to either\u00a0gain an expansive breadth of knowledge<\/strong> or a greater depth of knowledge<\/strong>. But what does this mean exactly?<\/p>\n Multi-Disciplinary Double Degrees<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n With a double degree, students have the flexibility to shape their learning around their goals and keep their options open. Your child will have more time to fine-tune their educational focus as their learning progresses and they discover the subjects that resonate with them the most. A double degree allows students to combine\u00a0subject areas across the disciplines to build\u00a0up\u00a0a\u00a0broad skill\u00a0set and knowledge base that’s suited to a variety of professional contexts.<\/p>\n In other circumstances,\u00a0a double degree\u00a0is an opportunity to combine an existing\u00a0passion with a\u00a0study ambition.\u00a0The result can be an\u00a0enriching and rewarding learning experience that supports a blend of\u00a0personal pursuits\u00a0with\u00a0graduation goals.<\/p>\n In both these instances, multi-disciplinary double degrees will enable your child to link subjects from different areas of study and learn different ways of thinking.\u00a0A few examples of\u00a0multi-disciplinary double degrees\u00a0include\u00a0Design\/Media (PR & Advertising), Economics\/Science, Music\/Science, or\u00a0Fine Arts\/Law.<\/p>\n Cross-Disciplinary Double Degrees<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n If your child has a specific path in mind for their future, a cross-disciplinary double degree will enable them to immerse themselves in their area of interest. Your child can select a degree combination that ensures their exposure to learning opportunities and skills development are structured to give them a deeper foundation of knowledge.\u00a0A few examples of\u00a0cross-disciplinary double degrees include Data Science\/Advanced Maths, Commerce\/Economics, or\u00a0<\/span>Psychology\/Criminology.<\/span><\/p>\n At UNSW we know that the smallest of decisions may send your child in unpredictable\u00a0and incredible directions.
