The session will be chaired by\u00a0Professor Robert Clark AO\u00a0(Chief Scientist-in-Residence, UNSW Art &amp; Design).<\/p>\n<p>Thomas and Morello\u2019s collaboration explores the probability of the superposition of electrons in the development of quantum computing. This collaboration recently culminated in their artwork being exhibited internationally as well as being reproduced on the cover of the prestigious journal Nature Nanotechnology (March 2016 edition).<\/p>\n<p>Paul Thomas\u2019\u00a0art takes not only inspiration from nanoscience and quantum theory, but actually operates there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Thomas\u2019s previous projects investigated silver, the mirror and quantum theories of light and parallel universes in the work Multiverse. Thomas\u2019s nanoart work Nanoessence explored the space between life and death at a nano level and Midas was researching what is transferred when skin touched gold. Thomas has exhibited nationally and Internationally and his current publications are Nanoart; The immateriality of art and Relive Media Art Histories, co-edited with Sean Cubitt.<\/p>\n<p>Andrea Morello\u00a0is an electrical engineer and a quantum physicist. He is the Professor of Quantum Nanosystems at the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, and a Program Manager in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T). His research is aimed at building a quantum computer based on single spins in silicon.
