Yet metamorphoses also evoke liminal spaces and becomings,<br \/>\nstraddling one realm and others simultaneously. Presenters are invited to<br \/>\ninvestigate metamorphic incidents of rupture and explore what possibilities<br \/>\nmight be found at these intersections of embodiment, spatiality and<br \/>\ntemporality.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions are anticipated to look at different ways in which bodies<br \/>\ninterface with transgression and transformation. Particularly how these<br \/>\nfrictions, desires and intensities are expressed through shifts in our identities,<br \/>\nour poetics and our politics. Both theoretical and performance-based<br \/>\nexplorations will be included in the symposium.<\/p>\n<p>Topics may include (but are not limited to): \u2022constructing masculinities in<br \/>\ncontemporary Australian media discourse \u2022representing the past: legitimacy,<br \/>\nhistorical narratives, historiographies \u2022feminisms and pornography:<br \/>\ntransforming representations of sexualities \u2022somatechnics, technologies and<br \/>\nbody modification practices \u2022staging the classics in contemporary Australian<br \/>\ntheatre \u2022affect and laughter: refiguring the carnival \u2022apocalyptic futurities:<br \/>\npreoccupations in film and literature \u2022trans identities and gender pluralism<br \/>\n\u2022economies of difference: post-colonial becomings \u2022stripping the<br \/>\nheterosexual matrix: queer reformulations of burlesque \u2022Rudd as \u2018Howard<br \/>\nlite\u2019: transformations and constancies in the Australian political landscape<br \/>\n\u2022consuming the flesh: changes in the reception of bodies and aesthetics<br \/>\n\u2022textual violence: depicting sado-masochism \u2022pathos, catharsis and<br \/>\ndirections in contemporary theatre \u2022Deleuzian re-imaginings and new critical<br \/>\nframeworks \u2022postdramatic performance: memory, trauma and tragedy<br \/>\n\u2022technological embodiments and shifts in bodily perception \u2022non-places:<br \/>\nmorphing spaces and architectural landscapes<\/p>\n<p>Creative practice responses such as performances, poetry and fiction<br \/>\nreadings, and non-traditional presentations are encouraged. The conference<br \/>\nwill involve an evening program to include these contributions. Papers and<br \/>\nperformances will be limited to 20 minutes. Applications for panels are also<br \/>\nwelcome. He has<br \/>\npublished and presented papers on a wide variety of themes and<br \/>\ninterdisciplinary topics from psychoanalytic philosophy, radical idealist<br \/>\nthought and jurisprudence, the philosophy of culture, and biotechnology.
