The Inter-Arts office of the Australia Council for the Arts supports
\nnew interdisciplinary research and creative development projects with
\ngrants of $75,000.<\/p>\n
The ArtLab initiative is for experimentation and collaboration between
\nartists from multiple disciplines to explore new artistic practices.
\nIt supports substantial, long-term research and development projects.<\/p>\n
The emphasis is on innovation, risk taking, artistic integrity and the
\ncreation of new ideas. ArtLab brings together artists and
\ncollaborators in new creative contexts that fuel cross-fertilisation
\nof ideas and artforms.<\/p>\n
The main objectives of the program are to provide significant
\nopportunities for:<\/p>\n
new collaborations between artists that explore creative risk-taking
\nand cross-artform experimentation
\npromoting the importance and critical role of interdisciplinary
\nresearch and development in the arts.<\/p>\n
Guidelines<\/p>\n
ArtLab proposals should present research and development projects with
\nan artistic process that demands a very high degree of risk-taking
\nfrom all involved. Artists involved in ArtLab are expected to
\nexperiment with radical creative processes and be flexible to outcomes
\nthat cannot be predicted in advance.<\/p>\n
The project should span a significant period of time – from 1 to 2
\nyears – with a detailed budget and research plan corresponding to this
\ntimeframe. The project may involve presentation of work in progress or
\npeer feedback via some other public forum.<\/p>\n
Proposals must demonstrate significant cash or in-kind support for the
\nArtLab to occur.<\/p>\n
