As the<br \/>\nboundaries between human and \u2018the other\u2019, technological, biological and<br \/>\nenvironmental, are eroded and perceptions of normalcy are challenged, they<br \/>\nhave generated a range of ethical, philosophical, cultural, and artistic<br \/>\nquestions. Drawing on theory from critical posthumanism and the normative<br \/>\nreflections of transhumanism the conference will encourage constructive but<br \/>\nrigorously critical dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>Conference papers can be on issues such as the consequences of enhancement,<br \/>\nespecially bioenhancement, transhumanist, and posthumanist accounts of \u201cthe<br \/>\nhuman\u201d, and any and all ways in which they impact culture and society. The<br \/>\nconference organizers encourage submissions from a range of disciplines<br \/>\nsuch as: philosophy, sociology, literary studies, cultural studies,<br \/>\ncritical theory, media studies, bioethics, medical ethics, anthropology,<br \/>\nreligious studies, disability studies, gender studies, queer studies,<br \/>\ncritical animal studies, environmental studies, and the visual arts.<\/p>\n<p>Call for Papers<\/p>\n<p>We invite English abstracts up to 500 words, to be sent in MS Word and PDF<br \/>\nformat to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:posthuman.conference@gmail.com\">posthuman.conference@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Files should be named and submitted in the following manner:<br \/>\nSubmission: First Name Last name. docx (or .doc) \/ .pdf<br \/>\nExample: \u201cSubmission: MaryAndy.docx\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deadlines:<br \/>\nAbstracts should be received by the 1st of April 2017.<br \/>\nAcceptance notifications will be sent out by the end of April 2017.<br \/>\nAll those accepted will receive information on the venue(s), local<br \/>\nattractions, accommodations, restaurants, and planned receptions and events<br \/>\nfor participants.<br \/>\nPresentations should be no longer than 20 minutes.
