The<br \/>\nconference will be held at Concordia University during November 4th<br \/>\nand 5th of 2011.<br \/>\nOne of the main goals of this conference is to develop the role of the<br \/>\narts and artists in dealing with environmental challenges.<\/p>\n<p>SESSION FORMATS<br \/>\n&#8211; PAPER presentations: each paper will be presented in person by the author.<br \/>\n&#8211; ARTISTIC WORKS: will be presented mainly at Concordia University&#8217;s<br \/>\nfully equipped, 380-seat proscenium DB Clarke Theatre, located in the<br \/>\nheart of downtown Montreal<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/finearts.concordia.ca\/facilities\/galleriesandvenues\/performancevenues\/dbclarketheatre\/\">http:\/\/finearts.concordia.ca\/facilities\/galleriesandvenues\/performancevenues\/dbclarketheatre\/<\/a>).<br \/>\nArtistic works could include performances (such as contemporary music,<br \/>\ndance, theatre and intermedia performances) and fixed media<br \/>\npresentations (such as: video, and possibly photography and<br \/>\ninstallations if conditions allows it). All proposals should have a<br \/>\ncontemporary artistic approach and be self-managed; we will provide<br \/>\nthe DB Clarke Theatre equipped with a video projector, a multi-speaker<br \/>\nsound system as well as lighting, however technical assistance will be<br \/>\nlimited. There will be also a projector, a screen and an acoustic<br \/>\ngrand piano at the entrance lobby.<br \/>\n&#8211; TRANSDISCIPLINARY ACTIVITIES: this is an open format area of the<br \/>\nconference that includes transdisciplinary workshops, creative<br \/>\nactivities or even the proposal of a roundtable with specific goals<br \/>\nand participants, always focusing on key issues related to the main<br \/>\ntheme of the conference.<br \/>\nSome examples of inter and transdisciplinary activities that will be<br \/>\nheld during the conference can be found at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/balance-unbalance2011.hexagram.ca\/\">http:\/\/balance-unbalance2011.hexagram.ca\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTERS AND SPONSORS<br \/>\nThe 2011 BALANCE-UNBALANCE conference is being supported by a number<br \/>\nof Concordia University academic areas as well as world renowned<br \/>\norganizations and institutions.
