Art&HENVI – Open call for artists to work with the Helsinki University<\/span>
\nCentre For Environmental Research<\/span><\/p>\n

Deadline October 14th 2011<\/span><\/p>\n

Art&HENVI is organized by the Finnish Society of Bioart in collaboration<\/span>
\nwith the Helsinki University Centre For Environmental Research (HENVI)<\/span>
\nin the context of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are looking for three artists or artist groups who are interested and<\/span>
\ncapable of working along one of three newly started research groups of<\/span>
\nHENVI over the period of one year:<\/span><\/p>\n

*Forests and Climate Change<\/span>
\nhttp:\/\/www.helsinki.fi\/henvi\/research\/ForestClimateChange.htm<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

*Ecosystem services and sustainable urban development (ENSURE)<\/span>
\nhttp:\/\/www.helsinki.fi\/henvi\/research\/ENSURE.htm<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

*Multidisciplinary Baltic Sea- Research (MULTIDOM)<\/span>
\nhttp:\/\/www.helsinki.fi\/henvi\/research\/MULTIDOM.htm<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The artists will work as part of the research groups and are encouraged<\/span>
\nto produce an artistic project as result of their investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The results of the interdisciplinary collaboration will be presented in<\/span>
\nfall 2012 in the context of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each artist\/group will receive an initial grant of 3000.- Euro.<\/span>
\nAdditional support will be acquired during the production phase.<\/span><\/p>\n

Required are:<\/span>
\n* Application statement \/ letter of motivation<\/span>
\n* Biography<\/span>
\n* CV<\/span>
\n* a portfolio with selected works<\/span><\/p>\n

The selection of the artists will be strongly based on the artists<\/span>
\nability to work independently in interdisciplinary environments as well<\/span>
\nas the quality and thematic orientation of previous works. The<\/span>
\nnotification of the results will be end of October 2011 and project<\/span>
\nstart November 2011. The jury will be composed of members of the Finnish<\/span>
\nSociety of Bioart, HENVI and international experts. We welcome<\/span>
\ninternational applications but want to point out that on-site presence<\/span>
\n(for some time is) is essential.<\/span>
