Candidates should have a<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">record of original thinking, action and impact in the arts, design and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">quality of life. Applicants should be willing to take risks<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">commensurate with the Media Lab\u2019s willingness to look beyond known<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">boundaries and disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Successful candidates will: establish and lead their own research<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">group within the Media Lab; pursue creative work of highest<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">international standard; engage in collaborative projects with<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">industrial sponsors and other Media Lab research groups; supervise<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">masters and doctoral students; and participate in the Media Arts and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">Sciences academic program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">The Media Lab welcomes applications from candidates interested in<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">establishing research programs in: music, performance, arts, design,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">food, fashion, architecture, games, things we have not thought of, or<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">any combination thereof.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">To apply, please fill out the application at<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium\"><a href=\"http:\/\/facultysearch.media.mit.edu\/\">http:\/\/facultysearch.media.mit.edu\/<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">Application deadline: January 16, 2011<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Appointments will be within the Media Arts and Sciences academic<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium\">program, principally at the Assistant Professor level.
