STEM to STEAM is an international movement to integrate the Arts and<\/span><\/p>\n

Design into STEM ( Science,<\/span>
\nTechnology, Engineering, Mathematics) education initiatives in the<\/span>
\nsecondary school and university<\/span>
\nsector.<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival will have three primary audiences for the festival, with<\/span>
\nthree separate tracks pertaining to<\/span>
\nthe respective audience, all focusing on the correlation between art<\/span>
\nand science.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first audience is represented by DISD students, 6th \u2013 10th grade.<\/span>
\nThis track will showcase the ample<\/span>
\namount of professions that utilize both art and science. It is aimed<\/span>
\nat removing restrictive preconceptions<\/span>
\nabout career paths, opening their minds to interdisciplinary<\/span>
\nprofessions. Through this track, the students<\/span>
\nwill learn how the arts are relevant in their own education and how<\/span>
\nthe implementation of the arts through<\/span>
\nSTEM can lead to creativity and innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second audience is represented by their parents. The aim is to<\/span>
\npromote the importance of establishing<\/span>
\na STEAM curriculum at a young age, in the home. Seeking a<\/span>
\nrepresentatives that can show the parents of<\/span>
\nSTEAM activities their child can participate in. This track will<\/span>
\nshowcase reasons to consider adding<\/span>
\nSTEAM-related projects to their child\u2019s activities through evidence<\/span>
\nof success in careers utilizing STEAM.<\/span><\/p>\n

The third audience is represented by the educators of DISD since it<\/span>
\nall comes back to education.<\/span>
\nThis track will inform the educators of reasons why a STEAM-based<\/span>
\ncurriculum is beneficial to a<\/span>
\nstudent\u2019s development through creating methods of implementing STEAM<\/span>
\nactivities into their<\/span>
\ncurriculum, particularly how art and science can be taught together.<\/span><\/p>\n
