GDM/GCCM weekly newsletter

The weekly newsletter will be our main form of communication with you. It will contain important reminders and information pertaining to timetable updates, enrolment reminders, assessments and examinations, as well as ensuring you remain up-to-date with current happenings in the AGSM MBA Programs community. The newsletter will be sent to your student zMail account and it is your responsibility to ensure your forwarding email address is kept up-to-date so you do not miss out on receiving important information.

Information for Session 2 Students:

Final exam – how to apply for Special Consideration

Students who were unable to attend the final exam for Session 2, 2011 on Saturday 27^th August 2011 due to either unforeseen circumstances or misadventure are encouraged to contact the Student Experience office (see ‘useful contacts’ at the bottom of this thread) and may be eligible to apply for Special Consideration.

Release of results

Your final results will be released via myUNSW by COB on Wednesday 28th September 2011.

Fees for Session 3

Fees are due by Sunday 18^th September for your Session 3 courses. Please click here for information on how to pay your fees.

Session 3 Classes

Classes will begin the week starting the 12^th September. GCCM & GDM Session Calendars are available on our website.

Important: as some dates may change occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances, we ask that you always refer to the most up-to-date version of the Session Calendar.

The names of the instructors will be added to the Class Timetable one week before the start of the session.

The Student Experience team are currently contacting students on any class waitlists to finalise enrolments.

Final Examinations for Session 2, 2011

The full schedule for your final exam(s) is available from our Timetables & Key dates webpage.

All GDM students based in NSW (CBD, Kensington, Parramatta, North Sydney, North Ryde) will be sitting their exams at the UNSW Kensington campus.

All other (interstate) GDM students will sit their exam at their usual Cliftons venue. Students enrolled in intensive courses (MPO & MS Perth) will sit their exam in their home state (as per their courier address).

GCCM students based in NSW will sit their exam in the AGSM Building. Interstate students will sit their exam in the corresponding Cliftons venues alongside GDM students. Any overseas-based GCCM students will need to organise their own invigilator.

If you need to change your exam venue, please let Student Experience know by Friday 19^th August.

End of session feedback

Teaching Day Student Panel

We are looking for some current AGSM students who are willing to take part in a panel during our thrice-yearly AGSM Teaching Day. Panel members will be asked some questions in relation to the academic aspect of their program for the benefit of our teaching staff. This is a chance to share your experience and positively contribute to the improvement of the program.

Session 3, 2011 Online Enrolment Period is now open

The Session 3 online enrolment period opens today at 9.30am, Monday 1^st August and will close at 5pm, Monday 15^th August.  Any enrolments (where possible) or withdrawals after Monday 16 August will incur a $300 late enrolment/late withdrawal fee.

International Business Strategy in Asia (IBSA): Cross-program elective offered in Session 3 2011

Interested in experiencing the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Asia first-hand? International Business Strategy in Asia (IBSA) is a full time MBA elective course available to GDM students that promotes experiential learning with classroom sessions, field visits, panel discussions with industry practitioners and leaders, government agencies and MNCs.

The classes will start in Sydney and then end with a two week trip to Hong Kong, China and Mumbai. Please note that there are student scholarships available for this course. Blackboard 9 Outage

UNSW IT has organised for scheduled upgrades to Blackboard 9 be conducted between Wednesday 29th June and Friday 1st July 2011. Therefore, you should plan for Blackboard to be unavailable during this period.

Managerial Skills 360 Degree Survey

Please note that you can download your 360 Degree Profile from Monday 27 June from the 360 Facilitated® website (use your Participant Control Centre password sent from Leaderskill Group). You are required to download your profile, print and take to class next week. Please note that you must have Adobe Reader 6.0 or greater to print your profile.

& Financial Management Midsession Examinations –

Saturday 16^th July

The mid-Session Exam timetables can be viewed on the Timetables & key dates page of the AGSM MBA website, under ‘Exam timetables and notices’.

The Exam notices are also available on this page. Please make sure you read each carefully.

Please note that the majority of exams conducted within AGSM MBA Programs are handwritten. As very few of you would spend any significant time handwriting anything anymore we strongly suggest that you start practicing now. Exams will vary in time between 90 minutes and 3 hours so the more you practice the more prepared you will be for the writing challenges.

We encourage you to visit our website on a regular basis in order to obtain the most up-to-date information.

Mid Session Examination, Special Arrangements

Students with physical or medical conditions requiring special arrangements for their midsession examination are required to submit the Special Arrangements form to the Program Office before 5pm on Friday 1^st July.

The last date to withdraw without academic penalty is Sunday 17^th July 2011 (Course tuition fee is forfeited or FEE-HELP debt incurred. No academic penalty is incurred).

Class Attendance

Shehaan Fernando, a 2009 SMY AGSM Alumni is currently battling Leukemia. He was diagnosed within a week of the birth of his first child, which was devastating. He is of Sri Lankan decent and having a really difficult time finding a bone marrow match in Australia. All possible donors need to do is register with the Red Cross and donate blood for the test. Obviously Sri Lankans and neighbouring countries are who we are trying to capture. Managing People & Organisations – Intensive weekend 1

The MPO Intensive Weekend 1 is scheduled this weekend at the AGSM Building, University of NSW, Kensington campus, Sydney.

Parking is available by ‘Pay & Display’ ticket machines between 7:30am-7:30pm Monday to Friday, on the top 2 levels of Botany Street car park. Parking is free after 7:30pm weekdays, and on weekends. Street parking may also be available.

Course fees include lunches and snacks while attending the workshops. Students are responsible for any other meals and associated travel or accommodation costs. Please click here for a list of local hotels.

Timetable for Intensive Weekend:

Friday 17^th June: 6pm – 9pm

Saturday 18^th June: 9am – 5pm

Sunday 19^th June: 9am – 4pm

The automated process for delivering your course materials to your courier address began last Wednesday, 11^th May. If you have not received your course materials within a week, please contact the Student Experience office. Please note that all students should have received a copy of the TNT con note number by email for tracking purposes.

Session 2 Classes

Classes will begin the week starting the 30^th of May. GCCM & GDM Session Calendars are available on our website.

Important: as some dates may change occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances, we ask that you always refer to the most up-to-date version of the Session Calendar.

The names of the instructors will be added to the Class Timetable one week before the start of the session.

Fees for Session 2

Fees are due by June 5 for your Session 2 courses. The deadline to apply for FEE-HELP is June 19.
