L&T FORUM 5th May 2011 – Assessment As Learning

The 2011 Semester 1 Learning & Teaching Forum is open to all UNSW staff with an interest in learning and teaching.

9.30am – 2.00pm (registration from 9am)

The keynote speaker is Associate Professor David Carless, Head of the Division of English Language Education, Faculty of Education, University of Hong Kong.  David has written extensively about learning-oriented assessment, feedback and trust in relation to higher education assessment.  He was the director of the LOAP research project (Learning Oriented Assessment Practices), an initiative promoting assessment change across universities in Hong Kong.  An output from the project was a practical sourcebook, How Assessment Supports Learning (Hong Kong University Press).

The 2011 Semester 1 Learning and Teaching forum will:

  • Focus on assessment as an integral part of learning
  • Explore the role feedback plays in assessment
  • Showcase some technologies that can help us assess learning and improve feedback
  • Identify areas for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our assessment practices
