Humanities Travelling Fellowships

Posted by on September 28th, 2011 · Uncategorized

Since 1985 the Australian Academy of  Humanities has supported more than 150 early-career researchers to undertake research overseas. Fellowships of up to $4,000 are available to permanent resident scholars in Australia working in the humanities.

The Humanities Travelling Fellowships also incorporate the Ernst Keller European Travelling Fellowships and for the first time in 2011, the David Philips Travelling Fellowship. The Application Form for the Humanities Travelling Fellowships is common to all Fellowships, and they are governed by the same rules, with the exceptions noted for each individual Fellowship below.

The Ernst Keller European Travelling Fellowships: Two fellowships (of up to $4,000) for scholars to travel to Europe to undertake research into European topics. The recipients will be designated ‘Ernst Keller Fellows’. Preference will be given to early-career researchers and researchers in German studies; however, researchers in other European topics are eligible for the Fellowship and are welcome to apply.

The David Philips Travelling Fellowship: One Fellowship will be offered biennially, beginning in 2011. The amount awarded will be $4,000. Preference will be given to proposals that contribute to the advancement of knowledge of racial, religious or ethnic prejudice. Applications from researchers of South African history are particularly welcome; however, researchers with other areas of geographical interest are also encouraged to apply.
