SKKU 2015 International Summer Session

The SKKU 2015 International Summer Semester (ISS) is a 4-week program at Sungkyunkwan University, one of Asia’s oldest universities.

The SKU ISS program will run from 25 June – 22 July 2015, and is not only academically stimulating; it also offers students an opportunity to make new friends and to discover Seoul and Korea.

The theme of this year’s program is “New Paradigms of Sustainability” and students will be able to choose up to two courses from a large selection available.

NUS Summer Programme 2015 on Economic and Enterprise Development in Singapore

NUS Summer Programme 2015 on Economic and Enterprise Development in Singapore is a 2-week residential programme (July 5-18) that offers an educational, insightful and interactive experience for students. Participants  are exposed to Singapore’s multi-cultural and cosmopolitan environment and gain a deep understanding of the economic advancements and entrepreneurship landscape in this metropolis city. Fees: The programme fee is SGD$2,300 and includes all activities listed in the programme and accommodation at the student hostel at NUS. The fee does not cover airfare and airport taxes, travel insurance, visas, meals and personal expenses.

Ulster University: Irish Studies Summer School, 2015

Ulster University is delighted to announce details of its 2015 Irish Studies Summer School!

Building on last year’s success, the School of Irish Language and Literature have designed an exciting interdisciplinary program that will appeal to students who would like to broaden their knowledge of Irish Studies across film, history, literature, peace and conflict studies and politics.

This program (24 June – 31 July 2015) – the only one of its kind in Ireland – will enable participants to sample the rich cultural heritage of north-west Ireland, while immersing themselves in the Irish language with a week-long residency in the Donegal ‘Gaeltacht’ (Irish-speaking region).

Participants will accrue credit points for the six-week course for which they will also receive a certificate from Ulster University.

Fees: This fee-paying summer school will cost £3,950. Include in this fee are:

-Transfer from Belfast International airport following Newark flight (24 June)

-All registration fees & tuition (incl. computer & library access)

-Week 1 (Bed +Breakfast) at Servite Priory, Benburb (Co Tyrone)

-Week 2 (Bed +Breakfast) Gaoth Dobhair, Co Donegal – tuition and social activities in the evenings

-Weeks 3-6 in private ensuite apartment with shared kitchen facilities and WI-FI

-Field-trips & excursions to sites of cultural & historical significance throughout Ireland

4th Annual IPSA-NUS Summer School for Social Science Research Methods

The 4th Annual IPSA-NUS Summer School for Social Science Research Methods will be held June 8-19, 2015, at the National University of Singapore.

The Methods School offers a wide variety of basic and advanced courses in quantitative, qualitative, and formal methods. All of these courses focus on both the theory and practice of social science research and provide high-quality training in diverse, state-of-the-art methods and techniques by outstanding and highly experienced international faculty.

Join them for rigorous training in social science research methods and truly global networking opportunities. Acquire cutting-edge quantitative, qualitative, and formal methods skills, meet future collaborators and co-authors, and make new friends with similar research interests from all over the Asia-Pacific, the U.S., Europe, and beyond.

All courses focus on both the theory and practice of social science research and provide high-quality training in diverse, state-of-the-art methods and techniques by outstanding and highly experienced international faculty from leading universities in Europe and the USA.

U21 Undergraduate Research Conference 2015

The 2015 Universitas 21 Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) will take place at The University of Auckland in New Zealand from 6-10 July.

This conference is an amazing opportunity for students to present their research, network and connect with students and staff from around the world and travel to Auckland, New Zealand.

The conference will explore the theme “People and Places” across topics such as climate change, migration, physical and cultural landscapes, identity, indigenous studies and social structures.

$1000 grants will be available to eligible applicants.

Asia-Pacific Student Leaders Forum

We are pleased to confirm the dates of the Asia-Pacific Student Leaders Forum (APSLF) from 8- 10 June to be hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS).

About APSLF 2015

The APSLF 2015 will focus on the role of Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) universities in providing support for various platforms to encourage social engagement and innovation amongst APRU students.  The forum proceedings will focus on dynamic group discussions amongst student leaders working on project proposals that could be implemented at their home institutions or communities.  The forum will also feature plenary sessions and keynote addresses by social entrepreneurs, innovators and policy makers from Singapore and overseas.

Focusing on the theme “Beyond the Ivory Tower: University Social Responsibility”, the conference will provide students with an opportunity to explore global social challenges  and network with student leaders from 45 other APRU universities.

$1000 grants will be available to eligible applicants.

Discover Thailand Scholarships

Universities Australia will be administering a round of Discover Thailand Scholarships on behalf of the Australia Thailand Institute!  There are 11 scholarships worth $4000 each for Australian students completing credit bearing study in Thailand. The last two rounds of scholarships went quickly and were well received by students.

Scholarships can be used for students travelling up to and including the first semester 2016.

Université Paris Diderot: Summer School 2015

Université Paris Diderot (Paris 7) Summer School program is running from 6 – 24 July, 2015. This three-week immersion program is intended for students who want to improve their French language skills and discover French culture.

The program will include three hours of French as a Foreign Language classes each morning, taught by experienced teachers from the Department of Applied Languages. These will be in small groups (12 maximum) to give  students the best learning conditions during practice classes and enable them to improve their skills quickly. Daily conferences, to discover the French civilization and culture in many different ways will also be included in the program.

In the afternoons, students will visit Paris through walks, guided tours of emblematic and historic sites or museums, such as the Louvre, the Pompidou Museum, Montmartre, Latin Quarter, and Château de Versailles. Two day trips out of Paris (Etretat and Reims) will also be part of the itinerary.
