TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY – Campus Cuernavaca Summer School 2012

Tec de Monterrey Campus Cuernavaca is offering an exciting opportunity for summer study in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Cuernavaca International Summer School (CISS) is a six-week summer program that offers both graduate and undergraduate students as well as working professionals an opportunity to study abroad in Mexico and to gain new knowledge and competency in Latin American area studies and Spanish language.

The CISS 2012 program is designed for students majoring in Spanish language, Education, Latin American Culture and History, Business, Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Communication, Media studies, Film and Television, or Radio.

Additionally, there are 3 special Diploma Courses for international students coming to the campus in summer. These are:

Diploma Course in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language

Program Structure:

H3011 Teaching Spanish in Multicultural Environments

HI3018 Advanced Translation taught by Dr.Mariela Gutierrez, a guest lecturer from the University of Waterloo, Canada.

Teacher’s assistant practicum or Remedial courses tutoring is offered upon prior request.

Diploma Course in Culture and Development of Mexico

Program Structure:

H3019 Mexican Culture and Thought

RI2021 Poverty and Development in Mexico.

Short-term volunteering project in a local community is available upon a prior request.

Diploma Course in Spanish for Business

Program Structure

HI2014 Spanish for Business

NI 2007 Doing Business in Mexico

A visit to a local company is available upon request.

International students can earn up to 6 US credits or 10 ECTS. Internship opportunities and volunteering programs are also possible.

Participants will live with a Mexican Host Family in a double room and will be provided 3 meals daily Monday through Saturday, on Sundays they will be able to prepare their own meals.

Application Deadline: March 30, 2012.

UNSW students participating in this program may also be covered by UNSW insurance and may be able to waive tuition fees. UNSW students who wish to attend should also complete the GEP_Outgoing_UNSW applicationv2 and return to m.kofod@unsw.edu.au two weeks prior to the application deadline.
