In 2011, Aarhus University launched an extended summer programme “AU Summer University”. The programme consists of a portfolio of courses taught in English at Bachelor, Master and PhD level within the fields of Humanities, Theology, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Business and Educational Sciences.

In 2012 Aarhus were running 62 courses taught by Danish and international guest lecturers from all over the world. All teaching at AU Summer University is based on current research and has a strong international perspective. The close link between research and education ensures the quality and depth of the courses.

AU Summer University welcomes Danish and international full-time students, exchange students, and free movers. Class sizes range from 20-40 students. In 2012 more than 1200 Danish and international students decided to spend part of their summer taking specialized, intensive courses.

Along with the academic programme, they offer accommodation service, visa service and a social programme for both lecturers and students.

In 2012 95% of the students (answering the evaluation) would recommend the programme to their friends.
