This 5-week summer programme will be held from 24 June to 26 July 2013 in NUS with a 1-week fieldtrip to Pulau Tioman (Malaysia).
Programme Highlights:
- Capstone module: Students would read the module ‘Field Studies in Biodiversity’ in which they will spend 1 week on Pulau Tioman, Malaysia where they would experience unique tropical ecosystems such as rainforest, freshwater stream, mangroves and the coral reefs under the guidance of experienced field biologists
- Learn another language: Students will take introductory courses in either Chinese or Indonesian language – Since learning a language is one of the best ways to understand a culture, why not take this opportunity to study a new language? Students are given the opportunity to learn either Mandarin/ Bahasa Indonesia in a five-week intensive language-immersion course; both these languages according to Wikipedia are among the top 14 languages spoken in this world. Our language courses are designed to be fun and interactive taught by extremely patient and experienced teachers. Students do need to note that it is indeed a challenge to learn a language in just 5-weeks and hence will be expected to attend 3-4 hrs. of language classes 5 days a week! It is said that learning a new language is a self-discovery process. Hence don’t miss this opportunity!
- Immerse in the culture of Singapore: Weekly trips & tours around our unique Island “Singapore” would be organized for students to experience the fascinating culture, cuisine and sights of Singapore and immerse themselves into our multifaceted and multicultural city
