International Environmental Law – The Netherlands

This exciting course looks at the nationalisation of environmental law at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Situated in the beautiful student city of Maastricht, students will learn through an excellent mix of classes, field trips and site visits. Classes will cover the some topics such as: environmental litigation and international dispute resolution:compliance and enforcement; European environmental law and economic development, etc.

Winter Sport program at the University of Minnesota

AIM Overseas will be offering the Winter Sport program, taught at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, United States.

This 3-week program in January 2015 is ideal for students studying outdoor recreation, sport management, physical education, kinesiology, or tourism. Some highlights of the program are:
• Developing critical outdoor leadership and programming skills
• Learning essential winter technical skills
• Experiencing the beauty of winter in the US heartland.

Internship Expo and Volunteer Expo

The UNSW Internship Expo and Volunteer Expo will both be held on the same day at the same location:
  • Date: Wednesday 30 July.

Internship Expo – 11am to 2pm

Open to all non-final-year students from all faculties, the Internship Expo is a chance for students to meet and discuss internship opportunities with employer representatives. Many organisations recruit graduates through their vacation and Internship programs.

Volunteer Work Expo – 3 to 5pm

Open to all UNSW students, the purpose of the Volunteer Work Expo is to bring not-for-profit organisations and students together.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) announces the availability of scholarships for a Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs

The Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs is for advanced German language students. It runs for 6 weeks in January and February 2015

 

In co-operation with the University of Duisburg-Essen (Fakultät für Geisteswissenschaften), Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg (SLI-SprachLehrInstitut), University of Leipzig (interDaF e.V., Herder-Institut), University to Cologne (Akademisches Auslandsamt, Lehrbereich DaF), Kassel (Institut für Sprachen, IfS), FH Aachen (Sprachenakademie Aachen/Sprachenzentrum), Duesseldorf and Berlin (Institut für Internationale Kommunikation e. V., IIK), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is once again offering scholarships for a six-week Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs from January to February 2015. This is an exciting opportunity for Bachelor, Master and PhD students with a sound knowledge of German (min. B1, preferably B2) wanting to improve their language skills and their understanding of contemporary affairs and aiming for further (postgraduate) studies.

 

The course is open to all Australian and New Zealand Bachelor, Master and PhD students. All lectures of the Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs will be held in German.

 

Duration and locations

  • Courses will last six weeks from January to February 2015 (exact dates depend on selected course. Our 2014-15 Course Brochure is online available http://ic.daad.de/sydney/winterkurs.htm)
  • Applicants will be able to nominate a preferred course location on the application form
  • Accommodation is booked via the course organiser

 

Scholarships include

  • A flat rate tuition fee allowance of EUR 750 (ca. AUD 1080)
  • A travel allowance of EUR 550 (ca. AUD 790)
  • A part-cost grant of EUR 975 (ca. AUD 1400) for living expenses

Participants should allow EUR 250 to EUR 300 (ca. AUD 400, depending on the current exchange rate) of their own funds for additional expenses.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must have an Australian or New Zealand passport.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the Hochschulwinterkurs (by January).
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled at an Australian or New Zealand university.
  • Applications are open to students in Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes of all
  • subject areas who will have completed at least two academic years of studies at the
  • time of starting their funded stay (by January), as well as to PhD students.
  • Students in their last year of a Bachelor’s programme are entitled to apply if they intend to start a Master’s (or Honours) degree programme immediately after completing their Bachelor degree. Please include a letter of confirmation by the higher education institution as proof should you have one; otherwise please state your intention of starting a Master’s or Honours programme in your letter of motivation.
  • Applicants must prove a sound knowledge of German in order to be able to follow lectures and work in study groups. By January, applicants must have completed at least 2 years of German (not necessarily at university) and gained language skills at the European level B1, preferably B2. Please note that the language certificates B1 or TestDaF to TDN3 should be no more than one year old in all examined sections. Language certificates from B2 or TDN4 may be older in all examined sections. In case a language certificate cannot be supplied, applicants can include a DAADSprachzeugnis (which is available in our Application Pack), that has to be completed by a recognised German teacher.
  • In order to be eligible applicants must not have received a Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs scholarship within the last three years.
