Posted by on January 8th, 2013 · 2013, Art and Design, Arts and Social Science, Built Environment, Business, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Scholarship Opportunities, UNSW organised

A 21 day tour of Japan that provides a balanced experience of corporate, traditional and contemporary Japanese culture.

All transport, accommodation, insurance and transfer costs are borne by Mitsui Educational Foundation (MEF) and the students are accompanied by the tour coordinator from Mitsui Australia.

This year, MEF will send a group of eight university students from participating universities around Australia on a 21-day study tour in November-December 2013. The tour provides a diverse itinerary including visits to factories and corporations, as well as culturally and historically significant locations such as Kyoto and Hiroshima. In addition students will have the opportunity to participate in a 3-day home-stay with a Japanese family, which offers the students a chance to experience some of the ordinary Japanese life style. All reasonable expenses, including international and domestic transport, meals, travel insurance, and accommodation, are met by the MEF. Students are responsible for private incidental expenses such as souvenirs and telephone calls.

Upon returning to Australia the student is required to provide a 3,000-word report on his or her impressions of Japan. The student is also required to provide a presentation based on this report to the MEF Trustees, Mitsui senior management and staff at head office in Sydney (again all reasonable expenses for this exercise will be borne by the MEF).  Other than this the student is in no way obligated to Mitsui or the Foundation on their return to Australia.

Eligibility criteria:

2. Are Australian citizens

3. An overall WAM of 70+ with no fails

4. Can clearly demonstrate a keen interest in learning broadly about Japan, and could most benefit

**Study of Japan/Japanese language is not required to be eligible for the tour.

UNSW students should register their interest by emailing advisor4globaled@unsw.edu.au with ‘Mitsui Study Tour’ as the subject.
