FUBiS invites registrations for its winter term. The FUBiS winter term will take place from January 14 – February 11, 2012 and includes the following courses:

  • German language courses on five levels of proficiency
  • European Studies (taught in English)
The course will introduce the basics of the European Union and describe and explain the processes of widening and deepening of this unique political entity. It will cover an overview of European Union history, its evolution in economic and political terms and the development of its institutional structure up to today. The candidacy of Turkey for EU membership and energy security will also be in the focus of the course.

The combination of a German language course and a subject course is possible. This allows students to improve their language skills as well as further their knowledge of a subject matter.

Study visits within Berlin are an integral part of all our courses. In addition, FUBiS offers field trips along the former Berlin Wall and to the Berlin Reichstag as well as a day trip to Potsdam/Sanssouci Castle.

FUBiS is fully authorized to grant credits which students can transfer to their home universities. After the successful completion of the program, every student will receive an official transcript of the Freie Universität Berlin.

The course tuition is 900 EUR for each course. A program fee of 200 EUR applies in addition to the tuition and includes several activities, a student ID, a transcript, access to computing (incl. internet) and printing facilities on campus and a welcome and farewell buffet. Students who register before November 26, 2011 will receive a discount of 50 EUR off the program fee.

U21 Photography Competition 2011

Posted by on September 21st, 2011 · Uncategorized

U21 have launched a competition to find the best photo which represents “The International Campus”.  Although the main aim is to help raise U21’s profile around the network, we also hope it will generate some interesting photos which we can use on the website and in future U21 publications. With 128 campuses between us, I am confident that the keen photographers around the network will come up with some interesting photos!

There are three prizes – first prize is US$400, with two runners up prizes of US$200 each, all paid in the local currency of the winners.  The winning photos, along with some of those which came close, will be displayed at the U21 Annual Presidents’ Meeting in Lund in 2012.

The competition is open to anyone at a U21 university (student, staff or faculty), the only stipulation being that the photo must be taken on a U21 campus and any people in the photos should (ideally) be members of a U21 university.  To enter the competition, entrants must send a high resolution photo to u21@contacts.bham.ac.uk with their name, email address and a description of where the photo was taken.  The competition closes at midnight (local time) on Wednesday 30 November and the winners will be announced the following week.
