Applications are now invited for the Australia-Germany annual Fellowship provided by the Australian German Association and the Goethe-Institut. It comprises a 2-month language course at Goethe-Institut in Germany, followed by a 4-week study tour in Germany, visiting institutions in the field of the successful applicant’s professional interest. Objective and timing: The first 6 months of the traineeship, will encompass: canvassing of Australian Exporters willing to do business overseas (Sydney) The following 6 months: Australian projects follow-up from the Altios International Head Office in Nantes (France)

Main Tasks:

  1. Business canvassing to identify Australian exporters willing to use ALTIOS services for their export business development
  2. Canvassing to identify French companies willing to work with Australian exporters (potential clients and business partners)
  3. Market evaluations and implementation missions

Trainee Profile required :

  • Currently in Australia
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good level in both written and spoken French
  • Business and or marketing/communication oriented

International Students Summer Program – DREaM 2011

Universitas Gadjah Mada is hosting its 3rd International Students Summer Program – DREaM 2011, in Yogyakarta from 26 June to 6 July 2011. DREaM is an International Students Summer Program which was first initiatied by UGM in 2009, aimed to embrace all differences of nationality, religions and backgrounds to create mutual understanding among nations.  The theme for this year’s event is “Social Entrepreneurship” and its conribution to the development of our society. DAAD Research Fellowship Programme

New Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme attracts excellent young
academics to Germany

Leibniz Association and DAAD launch fellowship programme. 15 international post-docs do a year’s research at Leibniz Institute of their choice. The application deadline is 20 June 2011.

Berlin/Bonn, 22.03.2011. The Leibniz Association and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are running a new international fellowship programme. With the Leibniz DAAD Research Fellowship Programme, up to 15 excellent international post-docs can conduct research for one year at one of the 87 Institutes of the Leibniz Association that they have chosen.

The Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme addresses qualified post-docs from all over the world who completed their doctorate not longer than two years ago. They can apply directly to the DAAD for a grant in a free application. The final selection of fellows is up to their respective Leibniz Institute of choice. The application deadline
for the first round of selections is the 20 June 2011.

“With the Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme, we aim to support a further internationalisation of German higher education and research and contribute to the development of international research personalities who remain associated with Germany as partners and friends,” DAAD General Secretary Dorothea Rüland stresses.

Leibniz President Karl Ulrich Mayer emphasises: “By linking up the exceptionally dense international network of the DAAD and the excellent working conditions at the Institutes of the Leibniz Association, with the Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme, we are creating an important instrument to attract young, excellent junior academics to
Germany.”

The Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme grants are funded via the Impulse Fund of the Leibniz Association for special strategic projects. The DAAD advertises the programme and runs two-month German language courses for the fellows. Also, all Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellows enjoy the general support measures of the DAAD for grant-holders and alumni.

Vienna University of Technology: BLUE AWARD

The Department for Spatial and Sustainable Design, Vienna University of Technology organizes the BLUE AWARD.

The Blue Award is a biennial, international student competition and awards projects addressing the topic of sustainability in the academic fields of architecture, regional planning and urbanism. The economical, cultural and social dimensions of sustainable development should be equal in significance to the classical problems of technique and function. The competition is an open invitation to future-oriented and sustainable solutions.

The Blue Award 2012 is making its second appearance as an anonymous, international, single-phase competition, and is intended for students of architecture, regional planning and urbanism. 163 projects from 86 faculties and architecture schools spread across 49 countries were submitted for the first edition, Blue Award 09.

The Blue Award 2012 will be handed out in three categories.

Category 1 – Urban Development and Transformation, Landscape Development

Category 2 – Ecological Building

Category 3 – Building in Existing Structures

The prize sum of 20,000.- Euros will be divided by the jury among the three categories of the competition. The jury may decide upon a number of honourable mentions.

Volunteers In Community Engagement (VoICE) Program

YCA has just launched our new Volunteers In Community Engagement (VoICE) Program.  Supported by the Australian Government, AusAID, this program offers skilled young Australians the opportunity to volunteer overseas on short term professional placements.

This opportunity is open to current students,  past graduates, people graduating mid-year, or anyone with time to kill while they wait for an exchange semester, this is a fantastic opportunity to get some first-hand experience with amazing international organisations.

The first round offers 15 week placements in India, and there are positions which would suit anyone with a background in health, community development, research, policy, film & photography, human rights or marketing.

Chinese language study tour – NCKU 2011

Taiwan National Chengkung University in conjunction with University of Canberra are running a 8 week Chinese language study tour on 2nd of July -27th of August 2011.

Program includes: 

  • Small Group Class
  • Culture Classes
  • Cultural Excursions
  • Language Exchange
  • A day trip

 Course contents:

Small Group Classes:

  • 2 hours per day, five days a week. Classes have 6 people.
  • Taught by professional and experienced teachers of CSL.
  • Main textbook: Practical Audio-Visual Chinese.
  • Hanyu pinyin Romanization and traditional characters & simplified characters are used as the principal written codes of instruction.

—   Optional Courses

  • 3 sessions per week, 1 or 2 hours per session. Optional courses start from the second week (July 4) of the class.
  • Cultural Classes offered Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Taichi, Chinese Knotting, Stone Plate Printing, Stamp Engraving, Flour Miniatures and Making Dumpling.
