Summer University Prague 2011

Summer University Prague 2011, taking place at Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic) during September 2011 (September 3 – 18). Its topic is “East goes west – West goes east?: Searching for a new European order after 1990”.

This study programme is internationally acknowledged and recognized, successful participants will be given 12 ECTS.

Chinese Language Study Program at Yunnan, China

A six-week Chinese language study program will be offered to current UNSW students during the summer term period (December 2011 – January 2012).

The cost of the program (excluding airfares) is AUD$2600.00.

Students who are interested in taking the 2011/2012 Yunnan Program, and would like to receive information update can complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) survey here.

Stockholm University School of Business Summer Program: Deadline Extended

The application deadline for the Stockholm University School of Business Summer Program has been extended to June 15, 2011.

The program will take place over the course of six weeks, from July 3 – August 15. Three courses will be offered in sequence: Sweden & The Financial Crisis, Fraud Risk Management, and The Swedish Model In Transition, each of which will be worth 6 ECTS credits.  

Limited seats are left for session 1 (5 seats) and session 3 (9 seats). Session 1 from July 4, 2011- July 15, 2011 and session3: Aug 1, 2011- Aug 12, 2011. Session two is now full but students can be put on a waiting list if desired. Students are welcome to choose from one or both of the sessions. Housing will be provided in Stockholm University’s student housing. In addition to coursework, an extracurricular program will be arranged with social and cultural events.

2011 Leeds International Summer School (LISS)

Confucius Institute Study Tours 2011 – extended 6th May

The Chinese Language and Silk Road Study Tour to Gansu Province is open to students and staff across all faculties of UNSW who have undertaken either Chinese language or Chinese Studies courses, including the summer course ‘Along the Silk Road’. In cooperation with Lanzhou University, the study tour will include, visits to historical sites such as Dunhuang, Chinese language and Silk Road related lectures. The aim of the tour is to build on participants’ knowledge of China to provide a deeper insight into the history of the Silk Road.

Language and Culture Summer School 2011 at Sciences Po

Sciences Po’s new Language and Culture Summer School will take place at Sciences Po’s Europe-Asia campus in le Havre from 4th to 23rd July. This programme is open to international students (degree-seeking or exchange students) on a first-come, first-served basis.

Stockholm University School of Business

Greetings from Stockholm! This summer, we are pleased to announce our first-ever summer program for international students, exclusively for students at our partner universities. The program will take place over the course of six weeks, from July 2 – August 16.

Three courses will be offered in sequence:

  • Sweden & The Financial Crisis,
  • Fraud Risk Management, and
  • The Swedish Model In Transition,

each of which will be worth 6 ECTS credits. Students are welcome to choose from one, two or all of the courses. Housing will be provided in Stockholm University’s student housing. In addition to coursework, an extracurricular program will be arranged with social and cultural events.

The program will be offered on a tuition-free exchange basis where two incoming summer students will count as one incoming semester student. The courses are on the undergraduate level and are suitable for students with a wide range of backgrounds, including students with other majors than business.

A fee of 3500 Swedish kronor per session will be charged to cover actual costs for housing, public transportation in Stockholm, course materials and cultural events/excursions.

Dragon 100 Young Chinese Leaders Forum 2011

 The Dragon Foundation, Dragon 100 Young Chinese Leaders Forum 2011, will be held on 24 July – 1 Aug 2011. The programme will provide a platform for meeting, sharing and discussion by participants who despite their different backgrounds have the same Chinese ethnicity. Participants would be able to gain a better understanding of their Chinese origin, hence reinforcing their sense of identity as outstanding “Young Dragons”.

Details of the Dragon 100 Young Chinese Leaders Forum 2011 are as follow:

Date: 24 July to 1 August 2011
Location: Hong Kong (3-day) and Taiwan (6-day)
Number of participants: 100 (including ethnic Chinese youth leaders from HKSAR, Mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, other Southeast Asia countries & elsewhere in the world)
Eligibility: Apart from having Chinese ethnicity, candidates must be aged between 18 and 35 and must be nominated by universities or other educational institutions, organizations and/or corporations.

Selection criteria: Outstanding academic performance, award recipients or exceptionally talented in a non-academic area, consistent record of involvement in community service or an outstanding record in extra-curricular activities.
Closing date for nominations: 7 May 2011

Programme Foci :

  • The Programme will be held in conjunction with the Dragon Series of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Our 100 delegates will go to Taiwan for a 6-day tour together with other 400 participants from the Dragon Series programme.
  • All participants will join part of the “30 Hour Famine” activity organized by World Vision Taiwan and perform in Mega Dragon Dance together.
  • All delegates will take part in community service at Ma-Jia Farm in Pingtung County, Southern part of Taiwan.
  • Delegates will also visit to major historical and cultural development projects interest; attend seminars and discussions with academics, university students and young professionals.
  • Cultural and social activities will also be arranged.

Your Universitiy / Organization are invited to nominate outstanding Chinese youth who demonstrated leadership skills. Since we highly encourage outstanding young Chinese to benefit to this programme , we do not have any nomination quota from organization.

2011 SNU 3-Week Intensive Korean Language Program

The Language Education Institute at Seoul National University will offer a Summer Korean Language Program from June 27 to July 29/August 1 to August 19, 2011. This program is intended for students who wish to study the Korean language intensively for a short period of time.  The program will provide students a great opportunity to learn more about Korea’s culture and language with friends from all over the world.
