Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Research opportunities are not only for graduate students. Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to kick-start your research career by participating in research opportunities just for undergraduates. Universitas 21 brings together leading research-intensive universities from around the world: what better place to be to get a taste of life as a researcher whilst still an undergraduate!

Whether or not you’re considering taking your research beyond your undergraduate status, you have the opportunity to experience research techniques from different countries and cultural perspectives. In addition to utilizing your own home university’s expertise, you can add an international dimension to your research experience by participating in research programs through Universitas 21.

There are two main types of undergraduate research programmes:

  1. Official programmes offered through U21 member universities
  2. Independent placements with participating U21 member universities

The official programmes have set dates and application procedures according to the host university’s requirements and academic structure. Otherwise, you can arrange an independent research placement by contacting a participating university to see what is possible. All contact information for both types of undergraduate research programmes can be found in the speadsheet at http://www.universitas21.com/forstudents/details/44/undergraduate-research-opportunities .

UNSW students arranging a placement overseas should also contact m.kofod@unsw.edu.au or c.schedlich@unsw.edu.au from the UNSW Global Education and Student Exchange Office.
