Tohoku University Science Summer Program 2013!

TheTohoku University Science Summer Program 2013 (TSSP2013)” is designed for undergraduates majoring in science and engineering. This is a short program that combines in-class lectures with academic activities such as group work sessions, presentation, field trips and Laboratory/ facility tours. The program is taught in English.

The theme of TSSP in 2013 will be “Advanced Science and Technology at Tohoku University”

The followings will be covered for this year:

  • Introduction to Spintronics
  • Electric vehicle and its electric motors
  • Computer Vision in Robotics
  • Robotics
  • Welcome to Carbon Nanotube World
  • Neutrinos
  • Genetic Engineering and its Application in Plant Fields
  • Modern Physical Chemistry
  • The 2011 Tohoku earthquake  – Why did we fail to anticipate the M9 earthquake? – (Geological Environment and Earthquake Disaster)

(*Topics are subject to change.)

The program will run from July 4th to July 12th, 2013 and it is being offered tuition free to the selected UNSW students!

Accommodation at a hotel costs JPY 40,000 for the entire stay.

Scholarships: JPY 80,000 scholarship from Japan Student Service Organization (JASSO) will be granted to all students who successfully complete the program.

The deadline to apply is April 10th 2013. To apply please complete the GEP Outgoing Application 2013 and return to advisor4globaled@unsw.edu.au. Make sure to include all supporting documentation. Students will have to complete a secondary application after this date.
