International Educational Experiences of UNSW students

Munich University of Applied Sciences will offer these programs in 2013:

 1. Engineering Summer School (5 weeks), starts on July 8, 2013. We offer a summer school program “Engineering for Sustainability” in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering and entrepreneurship.

In 2013, we will offer the following courses:

  • German Language and Culture (1 st week, obligatory)
  • Smart Vehicles (2 nd and 3rd week)
  • Renewable Energies (2 nd and 3rd week)
  • Design of Lightweight Structure (4th and 5 th week)
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship for green technologies (4 th and 5th week)

Besides the academic program, a broad and attractive cultural program will be offered, for example several touristy excursions and company visits (including BMW factory tour and research center).

The tuition fee for the five weeks is 1590 EUR for students from our partner universities. The fee includes all courses, the cultural program, company visits, health insurance, pick up service from the airport, welcome package, internet access on campus and support (bilingual student tutors) throughout the daily life. The program is designed for advanced undergraduates.

2. Supply Chain Management Summer School (2 weeks), starts on July 8, 2013

Our new, two-week business program combines academic lectures and a variety of company visits. Under the title “Operational Excellence – Managing Global Supply Chains the German Way” students will focus mainly on three topics:

  • Future Supply Chain Management
  • Operational Excellence- the German Way
  • Doing Business in Germany.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit a variety of businesses in the field of Supply Chain Management and talk to the responsible managers. This mixture of academic lectures and practical excursions makes the program unique.

The fee for the program is 1.490 EUR. The fee includes all courses, the cultural program, company visits, health insurance, pick up service from the airport, welcome package, internet access on campus and support (bilingual student tutors) throughout the daily life. This summer school addresses to advanced undergraduate and graduate students.

At the end of both programs, students will get a certificate of attendance and a transcript with the grades.

Universtiy of Lausanne 4th Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme in the biological sciences

The UNIL’s School of Biology launches a call for applications to the 4th Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme in the biological sciences.

This English-taught 8-week programme (July 4th to August 28th, 2013) aims at introducing Bachelor-level students to the world of biological and biomedical research: Individual students will be each integrated in a different experimental research laboratory of the School of Biology. This 4th edition of the SUR Programme will host around 20 participants from all over the world, including a couple of local students.

scholarship toward tuition costs, living expenses and justified travel costs will be awarded to all selected participants. Application deadline: January 31st, 2013.

FUBiS 2013 at Freie Universität Berlin

FUBiS is the official short-term summer and winter university of Freie Universität Berlin designed for international students. Every year, FUBiS welcomes about 650 students from over 60 countries, making it the largest multidisciplinary summer and winter university in Germany.

Participants can choose between German language courses on up to five proficiency levels and subject courses in various disciplines, e. g. politics, literature and art history. All classes make use of the extended classroom principle and include study and field trips to the vast variety of resources the German capital and cultural metropolis Berlin has to offer. In some classes students have the unique opportunity to attend specially organized and exclusive round-table discussions with decision makers, diplomats, and experts in their field of study.
Upon successful completion of the program, students earn ECTS credits and receive an official transcript of Freie Universität Berlin. Optional services include the arrangement of appropriate off-campus accommodation and a variety of extracurricular activities.

FUBiS terms run for 3 to 6 weeks and are offered both in summer and winter.

The next FUBiS terms take place at the following dates:

FUBiS term I 2013:            January 5 – January 26, 2013    3 weeks

FUBiS term II 2013:           May 25 –  July 6, 2013                  6 weeks

FUBiS term III 2013:          July 13 – August 10, 2013           4 weeks

Keio University: Short-Term Japanese Studies Program in early 2013!

Keio University is pleased to announce their new program, the Keio Short-Term Japanese Studies Program (KJSP). The program runs from January 29 to February 14, 2013, and welcomes students from partner universities.

The Keio Short-Term Japanese Studies Program (KJSP) is a two-week intensive program and offers a variety of courses and on-site activities related to Japan. For more information, please view the brochure and website below (available in mid-November).

International Summer University in Vienna (ISU WU) 2013

Vienna University of Business and Economics will be hosting their International Summer UniversityWU in Vienna (ISU WU) next year .

The three-week academic program of the ISU WU offers a broad range of business courses in English on both undergraduate (7.5 total ECTS) and graduate (9 total ECTS) level and takes place in July and August. Visiting local companies and solving practical case studies in intercultural groups complements their strong theoretical basis. An exciting social and cultural program effectively enriches the program. This all takes place in Vienna, a city which hosts many major international organizations and is located in the heart of Europe.

The ISU WU program is offered at two differed sessions:

Dates: July session:                July 8 – July 26, 2013
  August session:           July 29 – August 16, 2013
   
 Online application period:  February 15 – March 15, 2013
 Hard copy applications must be received by:  March 22, 2013

 

The following services are offered to all participating students:

  • enriching classes with an international perspective
  • opportunities for intercultural exchange through the social and cultural program

ITESM Campus Cuernavaca: Summer Program in Mexico

ITESM is offering students the unique opportunity to experience a deep insight into Campus Cuernavaca and Mexico. Their program is based on the natural approach of the language and Mexican culture through a total immersion experience.  Students will acquire communicative skills while gaining awareness of an appreciation for Hispanic cultures. 

The program will be run from May 28 – July 10, 2013

NYC Next Idea competition: Deadline extended

The deadline for the NYC Next Idea competition has been extended to November 12th at midnight EST.  

Do you have a business idea that would be perfect for NYC?

The competition provides students and recent alumni of U.S. and foreign schools the opportunity to access substantial funding ($35,000) and support to implement their business ideas in New York City.

Six teams of finalists will win a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip to New York City during the week of March 11th 2013 to participate in the final round of the Competition, which will be hosted at Columbia University.
