Hong Kong Polytechnic University: Global Student Challenge 2013

Students from the University of New South Wales who are full time undergraduate as of 22-28 June 2013 have the opportunity to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime challenge!

Organised by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Global Student Challenge is a global business plan competition for secondary and university students.  Over 370 teams from 29 countries have taken part in this Challenge since its inception in 2010, with the Gold Award of the University Division went to Johns Hopkins University, USA and to Purdue University, USA in 2011 respectively.

A total of 30 teams per division will be shortlisted and sponsored for their flights to/from Hong Kong in June 2013, with free accommodation at PolyU Student Halls of Residence.  Apart from representing UNSW, the best teams from around the world will enjoy an array tailored activities and cultural immersion programmes will be arranged during their stay in Hong Kong.

U.S. Consulate General Sydney: Foreign National Student Internship Program

The U.S. Consulate General Sydney is looking for non-American undergraduate students attending local universities to experience working alongside the Consulate’s American and Australian employees as they work on the day-to-day business, political, media, and organizational issues of the United States and Australia. This program will run during the 2012-2013 Australian summer holidays.

The internship will provide the students with a valuable educational and practical experience by assisting the U.S. Consulate General in accomplishing its mission goals.

In the long term, this program aims to establish, promote and maintain relationships between young Australians and Americans as each becomes leaders in their respective countries.

UNSW students who would like to apply should apply directly to the HR Office of the U.S Consulate in Sydney (see the 1st PDF for further application details and the address) and submit a photocopy of this application to the UNSW Global Education and Student Exchange Office via email: advisor4globaled@unsw.edu.au

Going Global! The Jobs and Internships Search Engine

The UNSW Global Education and Student Exchange Office together with UNSW Careers and Employment have subscribed to the Going Global International job search engine. Here you can search for job and internships all over the world!

In order to access this search engine you will need to go to the UNSW Careers and Employment website (http://www.careers.unsw.edu.au/). Once on their website you will need to log into Careers Online. It is in Careers Online where you can access the search engine – it will be on the left hand side of the screen.

UNSW students who undertake an international internship while enrolled in a UNSW program should register their travel with the UNSW Global Education and Student Exchange Office. Student Leadership in International Cooperation (SLIC) Project 2013

Summary

The Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education have provided the Go8 with funding for the establishment and implementation of a new ‘Student Leadership in International Cooperation’ (SLIC) Project between the Go8 and C9.

Objective

To develop proposals and ideas for cooperation between Australian and Chinese universities with the aim of promoting opportunities for outbound student mobility from Australia.

Program outline

The SLIC Project will support two separate groups of Go8 higher degree research students to undertake a two-week visit to a number of C9 universities in China during early-mid 2013.

The program will support each student participant up to $5,000 for the cost of visiting the C9 universities, which may include airfares, accommodation or other costs associated with the visit.

In order to apply students must be:

  • Australian citizens or permanent residents who have not previously lived or studied for more than one year in China.
  • Must have completed at least one semester at UNSW and be enrolled in a research degree at UNSW in 2013.
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal/social skills, especially in an international setting.
  • Able to work in a team.

 Note: Chinese language proficiency is not required

Requirements and responsibilities

Students will be required to:

(Before the trip)

  • commit to the agreed travel timeframe and visit activities;
  • organise relevant travel documents including visa applications (receipts and bank details to provide to the Go8 office for reimbursement);
    • provide scanned copies of their passports to the Go8 office for group flight booking purposes (passports should be valid for at least another six months after departure);

(During the trip in China)

  • travel within the student group;
  • participate in all group activities that are listed in the visit program;
  • abide by the regulations and rules of the hosting institutions;

(After the trip)

  • present their proposals and ideas at the debriefing event upon their return to Australia (some domestic travel may be involved), and provide a copy of their presentations to the Go8 office; 
  • complete a short project report form (Go8 to provide later) and submit it to the Go8 at the debriefing event.

 

Higher degree research students who wish to apply must complete the SLIC Project application and return to advisor4globaled@unsw.edu.au along with their resume, transcripts and/or academic reference.

ESADE Barcelona: Innovation Quest 2012

ESADE, barcelona is pleased to announce ‘The Innovation Quest (IQ) 2012’. The Innovation Quest is an initiative of e-joventut, the ESADE’s Junior Enterprise.

ESADE wishes to continue promoting the personal and professional development of students through real consulting projects in the Third Edition of their event. Emphasizing their lemma “learning by doing” ESADE pretends to connect the real Businesses World with the FreshIdeas of the future consultants from all around the world. The IQ consists of a competition between college BBA and MSc Students who should propose innovative solutions to real cases of the participant companies working in teams.

Moreover, the event offers the opportunity to attend conferences and workshops about innovation and entrepreneurship and to team building activities as well. Not to mention the added value of Barcelona’s life and business culture.

IAE Lyon and IAE Eiffel: Business Summer Program 2013

The University of Lyon School of Management is proud to announce a new undergraduate Summer Program that will be offered in the Summer of 2013. This program has been developed in partnership with their sister business school IAE  Eiffel. Participating students will take classes in both institutions, that is to say Paris and Lyon and benefit from the individual environments. Through case studies and visits, they will have the opportunity to learn about the different industries present in these regions, for example the luxury industry for Paris, and the pharmaceutical industry for Lyon.
