French Company Internship – EXTENDED Deadline

To increase Australian student mobility to France, the Embassy of France has drawn together a number of leading French companies and Australian universities to develop this exciting internship program for Australian tertiary students. 

 The internship would involve working in a French company established in Australia for:

  • 6 months in Australia followed by
  • 6 months in France at the headquarters or another branch.
  • An intensive French language course to be provided before departing for France

 FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • Up to $30,000 allowance
  • $2,500 Travel grant for a return airfare to France
  • $2,000 Intensive French language course
  • Medical cover while staying in France

 ELIGILBILITY

  • Advanced undergraduates (3rd -4th year) and postgraduates.
  • All disciplines, and more specifically Business studies and Engineering studies
  • From intermediate level French language proficiency – students who have completed French continuous and/or French extension in the HSC examination, or at least one year of French at the University.

AIM Overseas Exchange Competition

Global Exchange Projects

Travel Aboard, Make an impact and have the time of your life at the same time with AIESEC this Summer, a global student network of over 100 countries !

AIESEC UNSW will be holding information sessions on the 14th Tuesday and 15th Wednesday September 2010, 1-2 PM, Level 1 Roundhouse – Wurth Room.

Some of the exchange projects AIESEC UNSW are promoting for this Summer include:

  • Young EntrepreneurS Program: Support the next generation of entrepreneurs in Africa through the Young EntrepreneurS (YES) program. Help local students in their task of creating a micro enterprise. Foster their inner entrepreneurial drive by developing their skills in communication, planning and negotiation. Hone your own skills in these areas at the same time.
  • Afritour: Visit Togo/Ghana and contribute to the development of cultural sites and  the local tourism industry. Help promote Togo/Ghana to Africa and the world.  Visit tourist destination of Togo/Ghana and develop a unique connection with  them and the community there. By participating in management and  marketing with the AFRITOUR organisation and the local AIESEC community,  be more than just a tourist!
  • Tourism in Padang, Indonesia: Explore Padang’s tourist attractions and help in local tourism industry. Gain valuable experience in marketing as an intern for the Tourism Department in Padang creating promotions and developing tourism opportunities.
  •  Answers, Solutions, Knowledge in Africa:  Help educate African youth in HIV/AIDS awareness. Give them skills to spread their knowledge themselves. Develop valuable skills in community development and training yourself in a unique environment of diverse backgrounds, education, culture and life experience.  Be part of the solution to one of the biggest problems facing Africa today.
  • The Gk Build Program – Social Entrepreneurship in Phillipines: Build houses and help develop business to directly benefit impoverished communities in Manila. Participate in community building in areas such as health and safety. Be part of a root development project with tangible, rewarding results!

Engineering Foreign Language Exchange Scholarships

The Faculty of Engineering Foreign Language Exchange Scholarships (I,L)

  • Up to $4,000
  • Up to 26 weeks

Up to five Scholarships are available annually to encourage undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering to participate in the University’s formal international exchange program in a country where the primary language of instruction is neither English nor the language commonly spoken in the student’s home /country. To be eligible, applicants must: be full-time undergraduate students embarking on a period of study overseas which will count towards their UNSW Faculty of Engineering undergraduate program; have gained formal approval for the proposed exchange program; be undertaking the exchange in semester 6, 7 or 8 of their UNSW program; not be returning to their country of birth or long term residence; and, be undertaking exchange at an institution where the medium of instruction is neither English nor a language spoken in the applicant’s home or for international students their country. Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet a minimum language level of 5 in the appropriate language before commencing their exchange program. Applicants must be prepared to undertake language studies at The UNSW Institute of Languages and /or in the country of exchange prior to commencing their exchange program.

Selection will be based on academic merit, and the reasons for undertaking the International Exchange. The Scholarship Application must be submitted at the same time as the formal application for the exchange program – due in late May for Session One and late October for Session Two of the following year. SPAN6206: Spanish in Seville, Spain
9 January – 5 February 2011
Seville is the capital of Andalusia and is a great location to spend your summer holidays learning Spanish. Seville is home to 700,000 inhabitants and has a rich and varied history, bringing together a striking blend of Berber, Islamic and traditional Spanish cultures.

The course is run through the Centro de Lenguas e Intercambio Cultural (CLIC) – a leading Spanish language school that offers small group intensive language classes and a comprehensive social and cultural immersion program. The course is open to all UNSW undergraduate students. This is a 6UOC course that can be substituted for a course in a Spanish language major.

Course Fee
The fee is $2,300 per student. This covers: 



  • Four weeks of intensive Spanish language classes
  • ‘Intercambio’ discussions – language conversation swaps with a native Spanish speaker
  • Extra-curricular classes twice per week. Some examples include history, Spanish customs and traditions, phonetics and literature.
  • Housing in a single room at a family homestay, including half board
  • UNSW Travel insurance (covered by UNSW for its students on study tours)

SPAN6206: Spanish in Oaxaca, Mexico

SPAN6206: Spanish in Oaxaca, Mexico
1 January – 13 February 2011
This intensive four week Spanish language program is run in Oaxaca, Mexico each year. The course is open to all UNSW undergraduate students. This is a 6UOC course that can be substituted for a course in a Spanish language major. 



Oaxaca is a small city of 250-300,000 people and the capital of the State of Oaxaca. It is 440kms to the south-west of Mexico City, is set at 5,000ft above sea level and is one of Mexico’s most beautiful cities. 



The course is run through the Instituto Cultural de Oaxaca – a private language centre that offers intensive Spanish language and culture courses for foreign students. The ICO has organised a diverse cultural program for UNSW students.

Course Fee
The fee is $2,300 per student. This covers:

  • Four weeks of intensive Spanish language classes
  • ‘Intercambio’ discussions – language conversation swaps with Mexican students
  • Activity workshops, such as salsa and merengue dancing, regional cooking, and ceramics
  • Weekly seminars on a variety of cultural themes, such as Pre-hispanic culture, politics in México, Oaxacan artists, traditional costumes and customs
  • Weekend in La Nevería, a small village in the Sierra Norte, to undertake community assistance project
  • Accommodation and food – housing with families, including half board
  • UNSW Travel insurance (covered by UNSW for its students on study tours) 



Students must organise their own airfares, and it is recommended to book these as early as possible.

AIBC NSW Young Professionals’ Mentorship Program

 Australia-India Business Council – The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. 20 August 2010.

This exciting 16-week program connects aspiring young professionals interested in Australia-India Business relations with the expertise, insights and networks of today’s leaders. Mentees looking for professional guidance and support in the developmental stages of their careers are matched with mentors looking to tap into up-and-coming talent and build their networks.

The AIBC NSW Young Professionals’ Mentorship Program is exclusively available free of charge to all AIBC members.  AIBC has a special membership rate for students of $55.

New York City’s annual global business plan competition

The New York City’s annual global business plan competition, NYC Next Idea 2010-2011 will be held in April 2011.

The Competition provides students and recent alumni of non-U.S. schools the unique opportunity to access substantial funding and support to implement their business ideas in New York City.

In addition to funding prospects, the contestants will gain valuable experience interacting with leaders from top venture capitalist firms and businesses in New York City, as well as the opportunities to tour the City and learn about its robust business and entrepreneurship community.

We are inviting teams of 2-5 participants to submit business plans for ideas that may be commercially viable in New York City. Six teams of finalists (three from the undergraduate track and three from the graduate track) will win a six-day, all-expenses-paid trip to New York City in April 2011 to participate in the final round of the Competition, which will be hosted at Columbia University.

UNSW was identified as a strong candidate for the Competition due to the superior quality of your programs and students. And we would welcome participation from your students and recent alumni in the 2010-2011 Competition.
